Job Title: Field Activity Coordinator

Project: Cameroon Strengthening Civil Society and Community Resilience Program

FHI 360 is currently recruiting for the position of Field Activity Coordinator for a five-year, USAID-funded project, Cameroon Strengthening Civil Society and Community Resilience Program (SCS-CRP), with a budget of $11 million. The goal of the SCS-CRP project is to empower Cameroonians to address their needs through increased access to services and ability to advocate.

Job Summary / Responsibilities:

The Field Activity Coordinator will manage the effective implementation of program activities, serve as the primary point-of-contact for local grantees and other stakeholders, and liaise with members of the SCC-CRP project team. The Field Activity Coordinator will be based in Maroua, Cameroon and will require frequent in-country travel to selected target communities in the Mayo Tsavo division in order to provide on-site support. S/he will report to the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP).

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain solid relationships between and among FHI 360, local civil society organizations (CSOs), local leaders/authorities, and community members;
  • Coordinate and support partners to implement their grant activities, working closely with Technical Specialists and other Field Activity Coordinators to ensure that activities are coordinated, mutually supportive and leveraging resources effectively;
  • Collaborate closely with the Grants Team to ensure smooth grants processes, including develop solicitations, select grantees, conduct pre-award assessments, and site monitoring visits;
  • Ensure adherence to FHI 360 and USAID rules and regulations;
  • Contribute to program performance reports, work planning, information requests, and other deliverables, as required;
  • Manage development of and monitor work plans and budgets and ensure appropriate levels of technical assistance in program operations;
  • Support outreach to Cameroonian CSOs, including rural community groups and other stakeholders (i.e., local and/or traditional rulers); and
  • Manage other administrative tasks, as and when they arise.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or its International Equivalent – Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences, International Development, Human Development, or related field;
  • At least five (5) years’ experience working with civil society organizations in Far North region is required;
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills;
  • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with beneficiaries, consultants, and team members;
  • Experience engaging community-members, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders on topics such as youth empowerment, community resilience, and/or service delivery;
  • Deep familiarity of Mayo Tsava division;
  • Fluent in French and at least one local dialect of Far North Region;
  • Previous experience of working on USAID-funded projects is desirable;
  • Proficient English writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently and in a collaborative environment as well as show initiative and self-motivation to lead and develop tasks to achieve results; and
  • Relevant computer software skills (including, at a minimum, the standard applications in MS Office).
