Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of an MSc degree in Biology, Natural Resources Management, Conservation, Database Construction and Management, Protected Area Management, Ecological Monitoring, or related fields.
- Proficiency in GIS analysis (particularly ArcGIS or QGIS).
- Expertise in data analysis and reporting using tools like Excel, R for Windows, or other relevant software.
- Experience in managing large databases and cloud-based file systems.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Proven experience with wildlife monitoring methods and tools, such as line transects, occupancy surveys, camera traps, acoustic monitoring, and drones.
- Strong background in data analysis and data management within the context of ecological monitoring, including Wildlife, Human-Wildlife Conflicts, Law Enforcement, and Landcover/Land Use.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency in the MS Office Suite and online research.
- Experience in handling project administrative and logistical tasks is a plus.
- Excellent command of English and French (both written and spoken).
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to various cultural environments.

Mission of the Department:
The Congo Basin countries actively contribute to outcomes in key areas such as Wildlife, Forests, Food, Climate & Energy, Freshwater, and Governance through their respective programs. A comprehensive and integrated monitoring program is in place to showcase conservation impacts and highlight critical conservation efforts. The regional program lead collaborates with the network to develop decision-making tools, including interactive dashboards and online databases with a user-friendly interface. The recruitment of a Communication Assistant is crucial to support ongoing projects, enhance communication efforts, and promote key activities and results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce a quarterly newsletter to highlight program activities and achievements while also supporting national program newsletters.
- Assist in creating content for WWF’s social media channels to showcase program activities and outcomes.
- Support national communication managers in building and maintaining strong relationships with journalists, editors, and other media producers to amplify the program’s achievements.
- Develop tools to assess the effectiveness of communication efforts.
- Provide support for other program activities as needed.
