The AFRIKA KOMMT! program is now accepting applications from outstanding young African professionals eager to enhance their skills, broaden their knowledge, and gain valuable experience. This opportunity is tailored for those who are willing to step out of their comfort zone and grow!

About the AFRIKA KOMMT! Program
The AFRIKA KOMMT! program provides a one-year fully funded scholarship for young African professionals to gain the skills, experience, and inspiration necessary to become the next generation of African leaders. The program is structured into three distinct phases.
Eligibility Criteria – AFRIKA KOMMT! Program
- Must be a citizen of an African country
- Hold a university degree in a relevant field
- A postgraduate degree (e.g., MBA) is an advantage
- Have 2 to 5 years of professional experience
- Possess excellent English language skills
- Basic knowledge of German is a plus
- Maximum age of 35 years at the time of application

The Three Phases of the AFRIKA KOMMT! Program
1. Selection & Preparation
- Definition of scholar profiles by partner companies
- Application and selection process
- Candidate assessment through an Assessment Center
- Final selection of scholarship recipients
- Pre-departure German language course in the home country
2. One-Year Stay in Germany
- Intensive German language course
- Management training (Intercultural Skills, Leadership, Project & Change Management, Conflict Management)
- 8-month internship at a partner company
- One-week study tour
- Weekend seminars
- Networking events
- Closing ceremony with the German Federal Foreign Office
3. Post-Program Support
- Refresher courses in Germany or Africa, including management training
- Alumni networking
- Support for professional projects of former participants
What the AFRIKA KOMMT! Scholarship Covers
Language Training
- Individual German course before departure
- Intensive language training in Germany, covering tuition fees, accommodation, and a subsistence allowance
Professional Scholarship & Mentorship
- 8-month paid internship at a partner company
- Mentorship and training provided by the host company
Training & Development
- International management training
- Study tour
- Weekend seminars
Travel Costs Covered
- One-year German visa
- Round-trip flight ticket (home country to Germany)
- Coverage of local transportation costs for training and refresher courses
Living Allowance & Compensation
- €750 monthly allowance (Months 1-3 & Month 12)
- Gross monthly salary of approximately €1,500 during the internship
- One-time relocation grant of €1,000 upon returning to the home country
Important Note: The monthly allowance (€750) and salary ensure a decent standard of living in Germany. However, this amount does not cover family or dependent expenses. Bringing family members to Germany is not possible under this program.
Accommodation
- Fully covered accommodation throughout all program phases in Germany, including:
- Internet allowance
- Utility costs (electricity, water, etc.)
Insurance Coverage
- Health insurance (covered for Months 1-3 & Month 12)
- Accident and liability insurance
Certification
Upon completion, participants receive two official certificates:
- A detailed program certificate, outlining content and acquired skills
- A certificate from the Academy for International Cooperation (GIZ GmbH), awarded upon successful completion of the professional training based on the International Development Skills Journal tool
