Call for Applications: Selection of 180 Junior Parliamentarians and 70 Junior Senators for the 8th Session of the National Youth Parliament
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, in collaboration with the Hope for Youth Parliamentary Network (REJE), is organizing the 8th edition of the National Youth Parliament from February 8 to 11, 2025. This event will coincide with the 59th Youth Day celebrations. To facilitate the selection of participants, the Ministry is launching a Call for Applications to choose 180 Junior Parliamentarians and 70 Junior Senators from across Cameroon.
PURPOSE OF THE APPLICATION CALL
The goal of this Call for Applications is to identify 180 Junior MPs and 70 Junior Senators representing all 10 regions of Cameroon. The selection process aims to promote youth engagement in political and civic matters at the national level.
CANDIDATE PROFILE AND SELECTION CRITERIA
To ensure fair representation, the selection process will focus on gender equality and the inclusion of youth from diverse backgrounds. Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Cameroonian nationality is mandatory.
- Age must be between 15 and 34 years.
- For Junior Senators, candidates must be Municipal or Regional Youth Councillors within the age range of 15 to 34 years.
- Candidates must be residents of the locality they wish to represent.
- Applicants must enjoy their civil and moral rights.
- Ability to read and write in English and/or French is required.
- Candidates must be registered with the National Youth Observatory.
- Previous selection as a Junior MP or Junior Senator is not permitted.
