Commonwealth Scholarship 2026 for cameroonians

The Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, informs the general public and prospective applicants that the  Commission (CSC) in the United Kingdom is offering the UK Government’s Commonwealth Scholarships, aligned with international development objectives.

These scholarships enable successful applicants to study in the UK, acquire knowledge, build skills, and develop networks to address global development challenges. The offer is open to all Cameroonians, regardless of sex, age, or disability, and will commence in September 2026.

Scholarship Domains

The scholarships are available under the following six (06) themes:

1. Science and technology for development

2. Strengthening health systems and capacity

3. Promoting global prosperity

4. Strengthening global peace, security, and governance

5. Strengthening resilience and response to crises

6. Access, inclusion, and opportunity

Categories of Awards

Scholarships may be awarded for:

• A one-year taught Master’s degree at an eligible UK institution;
• A three-year Doctorate programme.

Application Period

• The CSC’s online application system will be open for applications from 02 September 2025 to 14 October 2025.
• The Ministry of Higher Education will accept application files from 02 September 2025 to 17 October 2025.

How to Apply

1. Candidates must first apply online through the CSC’s Online Application System (OAS), accessible via the CSC website.

   Note: The CSC will not accept applications that are not submitted via the OAS or submitted after 14 October 2025.

2. Candidates must also submit a complete application file to the Ministry of Higher Education.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be a citizen of, or have been granted refugee status by, an eligible Commonwealth country; OR
• Be a British protected person.
• Be a permanent resident of an eligible Commonwealth country;
• Be available to begin academic studies in the UK by September 2026;
• Hold a first degree of at least upper second-class honours standard (or equivalent) for Master’s level studies;
• Be unable to afford studying in the UK without this scholarship;
• Submit all required supporting documents to the online application system, in the required format (with certified translations into English if necessary);

For PhD applicants:

• Hold a second-class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (Master’s degree);
• Provide a supporting statement from a proposed supervisor at at least one UK institution to which they are applying;
• Must NOT already be registered for a PhD or MPhil leading to a PhD in the UK or in their home country before September/October 2026.

Requirements

Each applicant must submit:

1. A stamped handwritten application addressed to the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education;

2. A copy of the Online Application Form;

3. A certified copy of birth certificate;

4. Certified copy of GCE A/L or Baccalaureate;

5. Certified copies of University Degrees;

6. Certificate of Nationality and photocopy of National Identity Card;

7. Copies of University Transcripts (with certified translations if not in English);

8. At least two reference letters on institutional letterhead;

9. For PhD applicants: one supporting statement from a proposed supervisor at a UK institution.

Notes

• References and supporting statements must be provided on official institutional letterhead or via email showing the sender’s details, and uploaded in PDF format to the online system.
• All supporting documents must be submitted via the OAS in PDF format, not exceeding 5MB per document.
• Candidates must demonstrate strong English language ability, as studies are conducted in English.
• A complete application file must be submitted to the Ministry of Higher Education, Room 1504, on or before Friday, 17 October 2025 at 3:30 PM prompt.
