The Aghem Cooperative Credit Union Ltd, headquartered in Wum, Menchum Division, is a microfinance institution dedicated to supporting farmers in the Menchum Division through provision of loans and training. We are currently in search of an Agricultural Technician, aged between 25 to 35 years, to join our team and aid in realizing our mission of enhancing the livelihoods of our members and the broader community.

In the role of Agricultural Technician, your responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring the health and growth of crops.
• Advising farmers on crop selection suitable for the region and soil conditions.
• Recommending appropriate fertilizers and soil amendments based on soil test results.
• Identifying and diagnosing pest and disease issues affecting crops.
• Recommending and implementing pest control measures, including the application of pesticides or integrated pest management strategies.
• Providing education and training to farmers on best agricultural practices and emerging developments.
• Conducting workshops or demonstrations to enhance farmers’ skills and knowledge.
• Collaborating with agricultural researchers to contribute to the development of new technologies or improved farming practices.
• Conducting on-farm trials to assess the effectiveness of different techniques.

To qualify for this position, you should possess:

• An HND in Agricultural Science or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Proficiency in project writing and management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel to remote areas and engage with farmers.
• Relevant work experience in Crop Production and Project Management would be advantageous.
