Key Responsibilities (Not Exhaustive, Under Delegated Authority):

  • Contribute to the development of projects, plans, and processes that align with broader WFP programme policies and guidelines.
  • Provide project management support for specific programmes and projects, ensuring coordination with broader initiatives in compliance with WFP standards.
  • Develop and manage data collection and monitoring systems, ensuring they meet rigorous quality standards.
  • Conduct research and analyze policy and operational issues to inform the design of programmes and policies.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports to support decision-making and ensure consistent communication with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure effective project delivery and identify risks.
  • Support the identification, development, and management of partnerships to enhance food assistance programs.
  • Help build the capacity of WFP staff, partners, and national governments to respond to food assistance needs through training and development initiatives.
  • Supervise and guide junior staff, providing analytical support and mentorship.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience for Programme Policy Officer (NOB)

Education:
An advanced university degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or a related field relevant to international development assistance is required. Candidates with a first university degree and additional years of relevant work experience or specialized training/courses are also eligible.

Preferred Experience for the Role:

  • Demonstrated technical expertise gained through collaboration with technical teams.
  • Proven experience in leading programme implementation.
  • Contributed to policy discussions and decision-making processes.

Language Requirements:
Fluency (Level C) in English is required. Knowledge of the local language at the duty station (if different) is an asset.
