QUARRY MANAGER

Our company seeks a highly motivated and experienced Quarry Manager to oversee the extraction, processing, and delivery of raw materials for our plant operations in the Grand Nord region. This is a unique opportunity to lead a quarry team in a rural setting and contribute to the success of a critical project.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operational Excellence: Build, develop, and lead a high-performing quarry team to ensure efficient and cost-effective extraction and processing of raw materials. Optimize quarry operations to meet or exceed production targets for quality, quantity, and cost.
- Safety and Compliance: Champion a robust safety culture and ensure strict adherence to all company regulations, legal guidelines, and environmental standards. Implement and maintain comprehensive safety, health, and environmental (SHE) management systems.
- Strategic Resource Management: Develop and implement a long-term strategy for raw material extraction and preparation, balancing cost optimization, production volume, quality standards, environmental impact mitigation, and resource lifespan.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with relevant external authorities, stakeholders, and local communities. Secure and maintain all necessary statutory clearances and permits for quarry operations.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Safety Leadership: Drive the implementation of SHE policies, principles, and directives. Ensure compliance with SHE responsibilities and foster a safety-conscious work environment.
- Team Development: Recruit, train, and mentor a skilled and motivated quarry team. Develop succession plans for key positions and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
- Quarry Governance and Planning: Oversee site development in accordance with approved plans, including extraction, layout, stripping, dewatering, waste disposal, and rehabilitation. Actively manage legal boundaries and participate in raw material investigations and deposit evaluations.
- Production Optimization: Collaborate with plant stakeholders to define quality and quantity targets for raw materials. Monitor and analyze quarry performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a closely related field.
Certifications:
- Drilling and Blasting (BlastMan Certification) or equivalent
- Recognized “Competent Person” certification in Rockfall and Remediation (R&R)
Experience:
- 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in quarry operations
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of industry-standard software:
- Mapping (Surfer, GIS, etc.)
- Exploration (Grapher, Strater, Logs, etc.)
- Modeling (Leapfrog, QSO)
- Quarry Optimization (QM, Optimix, etc.)
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Occupational Health & Safety (OHS): Ability to define and implement OHS roadmaps, ensure compliance, manage risks, and lead incident responses.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of geological principles and their application in quarry operations.
- Leadership & Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, work independently, and foster a positive safety culture.
- Problem Solving: Keen observation, analytical thinking, and initiative.
- Communication & Organization: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a focus on results, and a structured approach to work.
