About the Reliability Engineer Role
The Reliability Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining our assets in top condition. Responsibilities include analyzing asset behavior, proposing preventive maintenance plans, and fostering operator asset care. In some cases, this role may be integrated with Process/CI responsibilities at smaller sites. This position is based in Douala and reports to the Upstream Maintenance Lead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance Procedures: Maintain and update relevant maintenance procedures to ensure their effectiveness.
- Equipment and Tools: Research and recommend new maintenance equipment and tools to enhance the team’s capabilities.
- Coaching and Mentoring: Coach and mentor maintenance staff to diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues.
- Contractor Management: Manage relationships with external contractors to minimize costs and ensure high-quality service.
- Spare Parts Management: Identify and standardize key spare parts for process equipment, collaborating with the purchasing department to identify reliable suppliers.
- Troubleshooting: Provide expert troubleshooting support to technicians and operators for complex repairs and issues.
- Root Cause Analysis: Identify and address the root causes of equipment failures to prevent their recurrence.
- Operator Asset Care: Support and develop proper “operator asset care” practices among staff.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze maintenance costs to identify potential savings and optimize spending.
About You:
- Education: Industrial engineering diploma (BAC+5 or equivalent), specializing in general engineering, electro-mechanics, or mechanics.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a maintenance environment, preferably in the food industry.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in RCM tools such as vibration analysis, IR thermography, ultrasound, lubrication, and motor circuit evaluation.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and competence in Word and PowerPoint.
- Other Skills:
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to create, monitor, and maintain dashboards.
- Ability to work on-call, irregular hours, public holidays, and during emergencies, including night work and daily travel to the factory.
- Proactive and initiative-driven approach to suggesting improvements.
