Summary: The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week).

Duties

Serves as Team Leader to four (4) journeyman painters. Performs a variety of journeyman level painting jobs on all USG owned and leased properties at Post and in country. Patches and paints the interior and exterior of these buildings and other miscellaneous items as required. Coordinates work and supplies for other painters. Assists the Maintenance Supervisor during the employee evaluation reports of painters. Liaises between Oversees construction projects as the Government Technical Monitor (GTM) to the Contracting Officer Representative (COR). Position will serve as an occasional cash holder. This position is supervised by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements: EXPERIENCE: Two years of journeyman painting work experience including giving work guidance to subordinates is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Reading and understanding of instruction manuals, drawing and sketches for tools and equipment. Familiar with different kinds of paints and their quality. Proper use of construction tools. Good knowledge on how to apply paint is required. Basic computer skills are required. Must be able to identify quality of paint. Ability to mix tints to obtain the desired color of paint. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to identify quality of paint. Ability to mix tints to obtain the desired color of paint. These may be tested.

Education Requirements: Completion of secondary school (GCE Ordinary Level or CAP) is required. Completion of vocational training program from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level painters.

Evaluations: LANGUAGE: Good working knowledge; written & spoken in English is required. Limited knowledge; written & spoken in French is required. Language may be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

Must be able to identify quality of paint. Ability to mix tints to obtain the desired color of paint. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Must have had a valid driver’s license for a minimum of five (5) years. Must be computer literate in Microsoft Word and other software programs used pertaining to this position. These may be tested.

Agency Benefits: Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Yaounde, Cameroon may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
