About the Role

Grassland Cameroon Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief of Staff to join our team. This pivotal role will be responsible for shaping, leading, and overseeing the execution of the company’s business strategy, objectives, and operational plans. As the Chief of Staff, you will play a crucial part in supporting the CEO by ensuring effective coordination, managing high-priority projects, and driving operational efficiency across departments.

You will collaborate closely with teams in operations, procurement, logistics, business development, and quality management to ensure alignment with the company’s overarching goals and strategies. You will also monitor departmental performance and provide regular reports to ensure progress towards achieving company objectives.

Grassland Cameroon Ltd. is a leading company in food storage, drying, and distribution, dedicated to supporting smallholder farmers. We provide input loans and training to farmers, enabling them to increase productivity. We process and standardize their produce, delivering high-quality, graded products to various buyers across Cameroon.

What We Do

Our mission is to provide financial services and support to smallholder farmers through asset-based credit, such as fertilizers, seeds, and crop protection products. These resources empower farmers to improve their yield. We then transform their produce into standardized, graded products, distributing them across multiple market segments within Cameroon.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Corporate Planning:

  • Lead and oversee the creation of essential reports, including financial, risk, and program reports, and provide daily briefings for the CEO.
  • Collaborate with department heads to analyze data and generate insights that inform strategic decisions.
  • Take the lead on cross-departmental projects, ensuring effective coordination and successful implementation of CEO-prioritized initiatives.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, provide summary reports, and track follow-up actions from strategy sessions.

Communication & Representation:

  • Assist in drafting press releases and collaborate with the business development team for high-quality media outputs.
  • Support the CEO in ensuring financial and risk metrics are updated and aligned with the company’s goals.
  • Prepare executive-level materials, including proposals, presentations for donors, Board meetings, and other key organizational engagements.
  • Represent the CEO in strategic meetings when needed.

Operations & Strategy:

  • Drive operational improvements and support strategic initiatives that further the company’s mission and long-term sustainability.
  • Work with staff and leadership peers to develop new business models and services, from ideation to scaling.
  • Ensure continuous performance improvements across operations, procurement, logistics, and business development.
  • Oversee health and safety compliance and ensure adherence to regulatory standards across all company operations.

Team Management & Development:

  • Lead and manage the operations, procurement, logistics, and business development teams.
  • Monitor performance standards and ensure that operations adhere to industry best practices.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, integrity, and excellence across teams, while coaching leadership staff to uphold company values.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Agriculture, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of senior leadership experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with proficiency in French being an added advantage.
  • Proven experience in preparing executive-level presentations and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change management initiatives and manage complex projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster cooperation and teamwork.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks with attention to detail and ensure consistent execution.
