Summary:
The U.S. Mission in Cameroon is looking for qualified candidates for the position of Communication and Special Initiatives Project Manager at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Responsibilities:
The Communication and Special Initiatives Project Manager plays a pivotal role in developing and delivering comprehensive communication strategies targeting both internal and external stakeholders. This position serves as the primary link between the CDC and the Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Mission in Cameroon. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing strategic communication plans.
- Providing technical guidance to CDC Cameroon leadership and external partners.
- Conducting formative research and fostering media relationships.
- Coordinating press coverage for high-profile events.
- Managing special initiatives and overseeing large-scale events and workforce development programs.
- Leading employee recognition programs.
- Liaising with the CDC headquarters for policy coordination.
- Monitoring and evaluating communication and public health policy initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness.
The selected candidate will report to the Deputy Country Director of CDC Cameroon.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Security Clearance: Candidates must be able to obtain either a Security Certificate or Public Trust security clearance.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years in progressively responsible roles managing communication projects and special initiatives within large organizations.
- Job Knowledge:
Applicants must have:- A thorough understanding of communication project management best practices.
- Expertise in public health communication, including knowledge of organizational concepts used in public, private, or non-profit sectors.
- A comprehensive understanding of USG-supported public health programs, strategies, and evaluation techniques.
- Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will possess: - Strong oral and written communication skills in both English and French.
- Advanced organizational and project management capabilities.
- Proficiency in tools such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and basic graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Piktochart).
- Ability to work effectively within a diverse multicultural environment.
- Networking expertise and excellent editorial judgment.
- Open Period: October 18, 2024 – November 1, 2024
- Salary: XAF FCFA 23,335,933 annually
