Citi Bank is recruiting a West & Central Africa First Line Client Specialist.
Position Overview
The First Line Client Specialist (FLCS) is a key role within the Client Facilitation Team of the Global Corporates FX Sales organization, reporting jointly to the designated product or regional sales lead. This position is critical to strengthening both the First Line of Defence (FLOD) and the overall client experience. The FLCS contributes by:
- Enhancing the client journey through a dedicated and knowledgeable team capable of offering cross-product solutions to recurring challenges.
- Reducing the administrative workload for sales teams, allowing them to focus on high-value activities and deeper client engagement.
- Increasing internal efficiency (e.g., KYC/CO processes) by centralizing client service and support functions that can diagnose issues and propose solutions.
- Minimizing manual processes, including improving STP, through data and hierarchy remediation (coverage and risk).
Purpose of the Role
The FLCS will serve as an integral member of the West & Central Africa Corporate FX Sales Team, handling both internal and client-facing operational activities while supporting long-term initiatives aimed at improving internal processes and managing regulatory developments. Responsibilities may evolve over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive support to the West & Central Africa Corporate FX Sales team in managing the First Line of Defence.
- Ensure efficient and effective execution of post-trade processes.
- Monitor first-line controls within the desk.
- Serve as an escalation point and manage the resolution of operational issues between sales and support teams.
- Identify root causes of issues and propose tactical and strategic solutions, overseeing their implementation.
- Minimize client impact while continuously enhancing the client experience.
- Prepare and maintain internal materials such as Monthly Business Reviews and Senior Management presentations.
- Support the development of external presentations for client workshops and training, with an emphasis on formatting and clarity.
- Assist in collecting and analysing data to support FX portfolio performance monitoring.
- Compile market updates using Citi research tools (Citi Velocity) and input from local teams.
- Contribute to the calculation and monitoring of credit limits and related charges.
- Perform general administrative tasks including calendar management and event coordination.
- Support control and supervisory processes to ensure compliance with audit and internal control requirements.
- Assist the Corporate FX Sales team with market-expansion initiatives across Global Subsidiaries, Public Sector, and Local Corporate client segments.
Knowledge & Experience

1–5 years of experience in Capital Markets, Operations, Risk, Client Onboarding, or Middle Office functions.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with at least Upper Second Class honours (or equivalent).
Skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Bloomberg or credit risk / settlement systems.
- Knowledge of relevant products, client segments, and market dynamics (e.g., flow derivatives, indices, single-stock, exotics, multi-asset equity derivative products) is an asset.
- Solid understanding of client marketing requirements.
