About the Role
Grassland Cameroon Ltd is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Operations to oversee his Operations, Production, Procurement, and Logistics teams. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company’s strategy. As a key member of the leadership team, you will drive operational excellence, support strategic decision-making, and ensure seamless service delivery that meets the needs of farmers, employees, and stakeholders.
What We Do
- Provide agricultural financial solutions to smallholder farmers through asset-based credit (fertilizers, seeds, and crop protection products).
- Transform raw agricultural produce into high-quality, market-ready products.
- Deliver products to diverse market segments across Cameroon.
Key Responsibilities
General Operations Management
- Develop and implement operational strategies that balance risk, cost-efficiency, and service quality.
- Establish best practices to ensure standardized, efficient processes across all departments.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks that may hinder organizational goals.
- Benchmark industry best practices to stay ahead of market trends.
- Lead cross-functional projects and task forces, ensuring alignment with the CEO’s vision.
- Develop performance metrics, analyze operational data, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Create and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to boost productivity and promote ongoing team development.
Operational Strategy & Execution
- Implement the company’s farmer outgrower expansion and crop diversification strategies.
- Oversee the training and capacity-building programs for farmers and field agents, ensuring content relevance and effective delivery.
- Design cost-effective distribution strategies for timely delivery of agricultural inputs to farmers.
- Monitor input distribution processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and transparency.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in operations management, business strategy, finance, or related fields, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- Education: Master’s degree in Agriculture, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
- Skills:
- Proven leadership and change management capabilities.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with professional computer proficiency.
- Ability to lead diverse teams and manage cross-functional projects.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to function as both a leader and a collaborative team player.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Languages: Bilingual proficiency in English and French is mandatory.
