UNICEF’s Mission in Cameroon
Since 1975, UNICEF has been working in Cameroon to support women and children in achieving their rights to development, as per the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. UNICEF provides both financial and technical support across seven essential sectors: Health, HIV/AIDS, Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH), Nutrition, Education, Child Protection, and Social Inclusion.
The focus remains on the most vulnerable children and excluded families. Cameroon’s estimated population of over 26.5 million faces pressing socio-economic demands. Challenges, including limited access to basic social services and the impacts of climate change, have led to widespread impoverishment, particularly in rural areas.
Despite the vast challenges, we believe the collective effort of all stakeholders, from government agencies to civil society and communities, will help overcome these obstacles. Together, we can transform Cameroon into a beacon of hope and opportunity for all of Africa.
