Job offer: Legal Officer​ – AMSCO

AMSCO is seeking a highly skilled Legal Officer to join one of their top-tier clients in the Face Moving and Consumer Goods industries. In this role, you will contribute to the implementation of legal monitoring procedures and manage legal acts, litigation, and the company’s assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the company’s insurance policy and ensure the execution of related contracts.
  • Draft or oversee the creation of legal documents related to asset management.
  • Conduct regulatory monitoring, focusing on land and environmental procedures.
  • Oversee pre-litigation and litigation processes, including managing reports with external law firms and preparing quarterly reports for the head office.
  • Provide legal secretarial services.
  • Oversee debt recovery efforts.
  • Provide specialized assistance to the HR department and manage corporate ethics actions, ensuring compliance with the company’s internal policies, including internal regulations, contracts, administrative procedures, disciplinary actions, training, and record-keeping.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with top management to evaluate insurance coverage.
  • Draft and propose terms of reference for the consultation of insurers.
  • Ensure compliance with contract clauses once signed by all parties.
  • Monitor the execution of insurance contracts and ensure the timely reporting and follow-up of claims.
  • Participate in drafting commercial partnership contracts and develop service contracts or purchase agreements.
  • Manage contract execution, maintain proper contract archives, and ensure legal compliance.
  • Oversee the legal management of the company’s assets in Cameroon.
  • Monitor ongoing litigation and prepare periodic reports on the status of cases.
  • Design and implement an efficient legal and regulatory monitoring system.
  • Provide legal advice on various company matters.
  • Prepare the annual activity report for the legal department.
  • Manage and safeguard the company’s titles and deeds related to its assets.
  • Organize and attend Board of Directors and AGM meetings.
  • Prepare, write, and archive minutes from meetings.
  • Ensure the company’s adherence to both internal and external standards for legal compliance.
  • Lead and guide the team within the legal department.
  • Organize awareness programs to inform stakeholders of potential risks and responsibilities.
  • Assist with the development of the department’s budget and monitor its execution.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A Bac+4/5 degree in Business Law or a related field.
  • At least eight years of professional experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of human resources management and administrative practices.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to a multicultural environment.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cameroonian legal and tax regulations and the ability to adapt to changes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal management software.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and French.
