The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Cameroon is recruiting a Maintenance and logistics Assistant.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A degree in maintenance or a related field, and/or professional certification in preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent malfunctions.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience, ideally within an international organization such as an NGO or multinational company.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in electrical systems, with a strong understanding of safety standards and expertise in diagnosing and repairing electrical installations.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly identify faults and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical issues and solutions to non-specialist audiences.
  • Willingness and capability to work in remote locations is a plus.

Mission of the Department

The Logistics and Maintenance Unit is committed to maintaining the integrity and functionality of all electrical systems and equipment. With a foundation of honesty, dedication, and professionalism, the unit oversees the planning, execution, supervision, and reporting of all electrical and logistics activities for the Kudu Zombo (KZP) and Ngoyla Programmes.

Responsibilities include aligning maintenance and logistics objectives with the program’s needs while adhering to WWF CCO’s policies and procedures. The unit ensures projects are completed within defined timeframes and budgets.

The Maintenance and Logistics Assistant reports directly to the KZ Project Executant, with additional support provided by the CCO Logistics Department.

This structure ensures the seamless operation of logistics and maintenance activities critical to the success of WWF’s programs.

Major Functions

The Maintenance and Logistics Assistant plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of electrical systems, logistics coordination, and administrative support within WWF programs. By maintaining infrastructure, assisting in logistics planning, and upholding administrative excellence, this position contributes to achieving the organization’s mission and goals.

Responsibilities

A. Electrical Maintenance

  • Ensure the optimal functioning of generators, lighting, and electrical systems. Diagnose and repair/replace defective components.
  • Perform routine inspections of electrical systems and equipment, including bulbs, tube lights, air conditioners, switches, sockets, short circuits, and rewiring.
  • Address and manage tangled wires, load balancing, and inspect new electrical installations (120V, 240V, and 480V 3-phase).
  • Respond swiftly to breakdowns, assess whether operations can continue or require interruption, and estimate downtime if necessary.
  • Maintain and repair solar panels and batteries (solar power systems) as well as main power supply connections (ENEO).
  • Install or replace electrical equipment, such as lights, switches, outlets, and wiring.
  • Operate standard power tools and equipment for electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate files and records related to electrical operations.
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced personnel when required.

B. Logistics Support

  • Assist in staff and partner movements during missions when the driver is unavailable or when needed.
  • Support procurement processes by gathering information and selecting service providers for related purchases.
  • Advise management on the maintenance and repair of office equipment, including motorcycles, chainsaws, solar panels, air conditioners, and vehicles.
  • Facilitate logistics for staff meetings, workshops, and external partner visits to the Kudu Zombo (KZ) field site.
  • Support logistical arrangements for interns working with local communities in Campo.

C. Administrative Tasks

  • Collaborate with the Finance and Administrative Department to supervise outsourced staff, ensuring tasks are executed properly and reports are accurate. Track monthly attendance for payment approvals and provide feedback or remarks when necessary.
  • Oversee the performance of the security service provider (G4S), reporting cases of absence or contract breaches.
  • Work with the gardener to maintain cleanliness and aesthetics at WWF offices and camp sites, promoting zero tolerance for plastics and maintaining well-kept lawns and flower beds.
  • Assist the Administrative and Conservation teams in achieving program objectives, including tasks related to office operations and the Gorilla Habituation exercise.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
