1. Role Overview:
The MEAL Intern will assist the MEAL department, receiving comprehensive training to gain proficiency in MEAL practices, processes, and standards. The intern will be under the direct guidance of the MEAL Manager, ensuring both technical and managerial oversight.
2. Key Responsibilities and Objective:
This role will focus on supporting the MEAL department at the Southwest base, while enhancing the intern’s skills and knowledge in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL).
3. Main Duties:
- Assist in managing the feedback and complaint system effectively.
- Help manage both qualitative and quantitative data for projects/programs.
- Contribute to the preparation and timely submission of MEAL reports.
- Aid in the planning of MEAL activities using various tools.
- Participate in both project/program and MEAL-related meetings.
- Assist in conducting surveys and assessments.
- Support the organization and execution of capacity-building activities.
- Facilitate learning activities.
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluation efforts.
- Assist in developing project monitoring tools.
- Participate in designing MEAL tools such as MEAL plans, IPTTs, etc.
- Handle basic printing, scanning, and document archiving for MEAL reports.
- Report any challenges encountered to the supervisor.
- Submit weekly updates to the supervisor.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
4. Reporting:
As per the instructions of the line manager, the intern will prepare and submit activity reports weekly and monthly, ensuring that all statistical data is regularly updated.
Educational Background/Experience:
- A recent degree (obtained within the last 18 months) in M&E, MEAL, data science, statistics, management information systems, public health, project management, social sciences, or a similar field.
- At least 6 months of professional experience in MEAL, particularly in health, nutrition, or related fields, preferably with an NGO. Experience with INGOs is advantageous.
Required Skills:
- Fast and accurate typing skills; familiarity with touch typing is highly preferred.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Basic knowledge of databases, data analysis, and reporting techniques.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English.
- Familiarity with Android or smartphone applications.
- Experience with data collection tools, such as Kobo Toolbox, is beneficial.
- Strong teamwork, prioritization, and organizational abilities.
- Capable of working under pressure, with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-motivated, innovative, and able to work independently under tight deadlines.
- Willingness to complete daily tasks alongside peers and supervisors, which may include extended working hours.
