About EVIHDAF
EVIHDAF is an international research and development organization with headquarters in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Our work focuses on West and Central Africa. We have a diverse team of researchers fluent in both English and French, who are dedicated to combining innovative thinking and rigorous methodologies. We are also supported by a network of regional and global consultants, some with ties to universities. In addition to our headquarters, we currently have a USAID-funded project office in Niamey, Niger, and a Data Unit satellite office in Parakou, Benin.
Our Work
EVIHDAF offers a wide array of services including research, monitoring, evaluation, and learning (RMEL), data analytics and survey research, research capacity strengthening, and social and behavior change (SBC) research. Our primary focus areas encompass Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH); Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN); Malaria and Infectious Diseases; Humanitarian/Vulnerable Contexts; and Support to Service Delivery.
The position
We are currently seeking a dynamic and motivated individual with a strong background in qualitative research to join our team as a Research Officer. This position will involve supporting existing projects and encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including study design and execution, data collection and analysis, the development of publications (Briefs, Working Papers, peer-reviewed articles), and knowledge dissemination. The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility, exceptional organizational skills, the ability to thrive under pressure, and a commitment to contributing to the growth and success of EVIHDAF. This position will be based in our Yaoundé, Cameroon office.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Public Health, Sociology, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years of research experience in relevant areas such as family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), and sexual and reproductive health (SRH), with a particular emphasis on qualitative research.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to write and present effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- The ability to work independently, proactively, and make well-informed decisions under pressure.
- Experience using qualitative data analysis software.
- Fluency in French is highly desirable.
- Prior publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or presentations at conferences are a significant asset.
- Familiarity with social media communication strategies is also advantageous.
