Our team is supported by regional and global consultants, including university affiliates, ensuring a wide range of expertise. Additionally, we have a USAID-funded project office in Niamey, Niger, and a Data Unit satellite office in Parakou, Benin.
EVIHDAF offers a comprehensive portfolio of services in Research, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (RMEL), Data Analytics, Research Capacity Strengthening, and Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Research. Our main focus areas include:
- Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH)
- Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN)
- Malaria and Infectious Diseases
- Humanitarian/Vulnerable Contexts
- Support to Service Delivery
We are seeking a Research/Technical Director with proven expertise and leadership in project design, implementation, evaluation, publications and research utilization, and proposal development. This role is particularly focused on RMNCAH, MIYCN, and related areas such as malaria, infectious diseases, and service delivery. While based in Cameroon, remote work arrangements may be considered. The position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure, and availability for local and international travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee ongoing projects, develop and review work plans, monitor research activities, and engage with both national and international stakeholders.
- Lead the development of publications and support the team in creating research outputs, including research briefs, working papers, peer-reviewed articles, and conference presentations.
- Drive proposal development to expand the project portfolio, focusing on funders like USAID and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).
- Mentor, supervise, and build the capacity of research and communications staff, while also supporting recruitment to meet evolving organizational needs.
- Participate actively in relevant technical working groups at both the national and global levels.
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD in demography, sociology, public health, social sciences, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of research and publication experience in RMNCAH and MIYCN.
- Strong track record in scientific writing and presentations, with extensive experience in peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Knowledge of SBC research, gender and social norms, and empowerment at both individual and community levels.
- Experience in quantitative and qualitative research, including data analysis, reporting, and dissemination.
- Proven experience in global health proposal development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in both English and French.
- Ability to clearly convey complex research concepts in both verbal and written formats.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis software (qualitative or quantitative).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in leading interdisciplinary teams and working with a wide range of governmental and non-governmental stakeholders.
- Experience with U.S.-funded projects and the ability to coordinate effectively with U.S. government agencies and other technical organizations.
- Previous work experience in West and Central Africa.
- Full professional proficiency in English, with intermediate or higher proficiency in French.
