Ecobank Cameroon S.A., a leading financial institution, is actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Trade Finance Products Manager to join their team. This key role offers the exciting opportunity to shape and drive trade finance activities across the entire CEMAC region, based out of Cameroon.

Job Summary

The Trade Finance Products Manager will have comprehensive responsibility for propelling revenue growth, expanding assets, and capturing a larger market share within the trade finance sector. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in aligning these activities with Ecobank’s broader strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Relationship Management: Cultivate and nurture strong relationships with existing clients while actively seeking out new business opportunities. Collaborate closely with Relationship Managers across various segments to originate, structure, and execute trade finance deals.
  • Risk Management: Engage in risk assessment and approval processes for trade transactions. Oversee the management of the trade portfolio, implementing structured solutions to mitigate potential risks.
  • Strategic Vision: Maintain a big-picture perspective, ensuring that daily decisions and operational activities align with the long-term strategic goals of the international trade finance and services division.
  • Client Development & Retention: Develop and implement comprehensive plans to deepen relationships with existing clients, utilizing the bank’s tools to maximize cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
  • Market Engagement: Establish and maintain critical relationships with stakeholders across local markets and within the broader Ecobank Cameroon network. Stay abreast of industry developments and share best practices throughout the region.
  • Business Development: Demonstrate a deep understanding of the strategic drivers, challenges, and competitive landscape within the various business sectors where clients operate. Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities, including those with clients who haven’t previously engaged with Ecobank’s trade finance services.

  • Operational Excellence: Collaborating closely with Operations and Technology teams to swiftly resolve any issues arising from the Trade Electronic platform. Leading cross-functional projects that impact the Trade Business and associated solutions.

Qualifications and Expertise

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of technical knowledge, business acumen, and leadership capabilities:

  • Proven Experience: A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in the trade finance sector, with at least 3 years in a client-facing or business development capacity.
  • Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to interact and negotiate effectively with senior stakeholders within client organizations, fostering strong relationships built on trust and mutual success.
  • Customer-Centric Focus: A deep commitment to understanding and exceeding client expectations, translating their needs into innovative solutions.
  • Communication Prowess: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in relevant languages, enabling clear and persuasive communication with diverse audiences.
  • Technical Proficiency: A strong grasp of trade finance principles, electronic banking technologies, and risk management methodologies.
