Eligibility Criteria for the MISTRAL Scholarships in France
The Mistral scholarship program is designed for high-achieving international students enrolled in a higher education institution abroad, aspiring to pursue a Master’s degree at Avignon University. To be eligible, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be under 28 years old as of December 31, 2025
- Demonstrate an excellent academic record
- Have a French language proficiency of at least B2 level, or C1 for certain specific Master’s programs
- Be enrolled in a higher education institution abroad at the time of application submission
- Not have interrupted studies for more than a year
- Not reside in France
- Never have applied for the Mistral excellence scholarship, except in the case of a renewal request
Scholarship Amount
The Mistral scholarship offers €6,000 for the first year, with the possibility of renewal in the second year, provided the student maintains a high level of excellence in Master 1 (M1).
Avignon University plans to fund up to 7 Mistral scholarships for the two years of the Master’s program during the 2025/26 academic year.

The application period for the 2025/26 academic year runs from February 5 to March 24, 2025.
In addition to the Mistral scholarship application, candidates must also apply for their desired Master’s program by following the appropriate procedure, either through Etudes en France or on monmaster.gouv.fr.
