Mobil’ITI Scholarships – IRMIA – University of Strasbourg

The Mobil’ITI program, initiated by IRMIA and affiliated with the University of Strasbourg, offers Master’s scholarships (Master 1 and Master 2) for international students wishing to pursue studies in mathematics, computer science, or physics. The annual net amount of these scholarships ranges between €7,000 and €9,500, depending on the individual situation of each applicant.

About IRMIA and ITI IRMIA++

The IRMIA (Institute for Research in Mathematics, Interaction, and Applications) is a joint research unit under the dual supervision of INSMI (CNRS) and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Strasbourg.

The ITI IRMIA++ (Interdisciplinary Thematic Institute) focuses on advanced research in mathematics and its interdisciplinary applications. It brings together 12 research teams and offers a five-year Master-Doctorate training program, designed to train high-level researchers in various fields. This program includes interdisciplinary seminars, thematic schools, and collaborative research projects, providing students with a broad perspective on the application of mathematics in diverse scientific fields.

Scholarship Amount

The total scholarship amount ranges between €7,000 and €9,500, depending on the student’s situation. It includes:

  • A monthly allowance of €700 for 10 months, totaling €7,000.
  • A one-time installation grant of €500.
  • A travel and installation contribution (upon presentation of receipts):
    1. €2,000 for students coming from a country more than 4,000 km away.
    2. €1,000 for students coming from a country less than 4,000 km away, including France.

Scholarship Duration

The scholarship is granted for one academic year (10 months) and may be extended under certain conditions for a maximum of 6 additional months.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Fields of study: Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics.
  • Required academic level: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree, a Licence, or an Engineering diploma in a field related to computer science, mathematics, or physics.
  • Language proficiency: Proficiency in French and English is required. Courses will be conducted in English.

Application Process

Applicants must first apply for a Master’s program through one of the following platforms, depending on their geographical location: e-candidat (Unistra), MonMaster.gouv.fr, or Campus France.

Then, they must apply for the DU IRMIA++ and the scholarship by filling out the online application form available at the following link:

Applications will be reviewed by the academic coordinator. If the application is deemed eligible, an interview will be conducted with a jury composed of faculty members specializing in mathematics, physics, and computer science.

⚠️ Important: Applicants must apply for a Master’s program first before submitting their application for the DU IRMIA++ and the scholarship. Applications that do not meet this condition will not be considered.

Application Deadline

The deadline to submit an application for the Mobil’ITI IRMIA++ scholarships at the University of Strasbourg is April 1, 2025. Final decisions will be communicated by June 2025.

Required Documents

The supporting documents for a Master’s application vary depending on the chosen program. Applicants are advised to consult the dedicated Master’s webpage.

However, for the online application to the University Diploma (DU) and the scholarship, the following documents must be uploaded:

  • A CV
  • The most recent diploma obtained, along with academic transcripts from the past three years (Bachelor’s and/or Master’s level)
  • A motivation letter, explaining the professional project and its relevance to the University of Strasbourg
  • The scholarship application form, available for download during the online application process, duly completed and signed.
