AMSCO (Africa Management Services Company) is hiring for the following position: Contract Manager.
Location: Douala, Cameroon
Role Overview
The Contract Manager will oversee the entire spectrum of contract administration and execution, ensuring adherence to legal standards, internal policies, and project objectives. This position requires expertise in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing a variety of contracts, with a strong emphasis on risk mitigation, stakeholder engagement, and alignment with corporate strategy.
Main Responsibilities
1. Contract Drafting and Oversight
- Prepare, assess, and negotiate diverse contracts, including commercial, supplier, subcontractor, and consultancy agreements.
- Guarantee that all contractual documents comply with applicable laws and organizational policies, while supporting strategic objectives.
- Maintain and control contract records, ensuring proper version management and accessibility.
2. Contract Lifecycle Management
- Administer contracts from initiation to closure, covering extensions, modifications, renewals, and terminations.
- Track and manage key deliverables, milestones, and deadlines to ensure timely compliance.
3. Risk and Compliance Management
- Identify and assess potential contractual risks, working closely with legal, finance, and project teams to mitigate them.
- Ensure adherence to laws, regulations, industry standards, and corporate governance principles.
- Handle disputes or contract-related issues promptly and effectively.
4. Stakeholder Collaboration
- Coordinate with internal teams (legal, finance, procurement, project management, etc.) and external partners to support negotiation and contract execution.
- Serve as the primary liaison on contractual matters with clients, vendors, and contractors.
5. Documentation and Reporting
- Keep accurate records of contracts, communications, and amendments.
- Provide regular reports on contract status, risks, and compliance for senior management.
6. Process Optimization
- Design and implement standard procedures and best practices to enhance contract management effectiveness.
- Deliver training to internal stakeholders on contract obligations, processes, and compliance standards.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline (a Master’s degree or professional legal certification is an advantage).
- 10–15 years of proven experience in contract management, ideally within the construction, engineering, or industrial sectors.
- Strong skills in negotiation, critical analysis, and effective communication.
- Solid command of contract management tools and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
