Job Summary:
IHS Towers is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Power Projects Manager to lead our power infrastructure initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in telecom power systems engineering and project management, with a strong focus on driving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Collaboration: Foster a high-performance culture within the team, promoting continuous improvement, accountability, and a commitment to quality. Mentor and develop team members to achieve their full potential.
- Power Infrastructure Optimization: Conduct comprehensive power audits, analyze findings, and recommend strategies to optimize power requirements for site upgrades and new facility rollouts. Research and implement innovative power solutions that reduce operational expenses (OPEX) and capital expenditures (CAPEX).
- Technical Expertise and Support: Provide expert technical guidance on power system design, operation, and maintenance. Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for new technologies and solutions. Ensure compliance with company, international, and regulatory standards.
- Project Management: Oversee the implementation of power projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope. Proactively communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal teams (procurement, installation, regional teams) and external partners/vendors to achieve seamless project execution and operational success.
- Performance Monitoring and Improvement: Conduct launch check audits and random site inspections to ensure optimal utilization of power solutions and adherence to company standards. Analyze root causes of recurring faults and propose corrective actions.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed reports for the Director of Technical Affairs on all power-related activities. Maintain comprehensive documentation for all projects and solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline or MBA is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in telecom power infrastructure engineering and project management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Deep understanding of power system design, operation, and maintenance.
- Experience with AC and DC power systems, generators, rectifiers, alternative energy systems, and air conditioning systems.
- Proven project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
