Our flagship initiative is a large-scale iron ore project aimed at establishing a world-class open-pit mine and the supporting infrastructure to facilitate long-term operations.

Role Summary

Cameroon Mining Company is seeking an accomplished Project/Operations Manager with a strong background in iron ore mining to lead one of his key projects in Central Africa. The successful candidate will oversee all phases of the mining operation—from initial development to full-scale production—ensuring performance, efficiency, and compliance at every stage. This leadership role requires deep technical expertise, strategic oversight, and a hands-on management approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end operational lifecycle of the iron ore mining project, from pre-production through to operational ramp-up.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including geology, mining, processing, logistics, and environmental compliance units.
• Develop and control project schedules, budgets, staffing plans, procurement activities, and resource allocation.
• Enforce compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, as well as internal corporate policies.
• Track and report operational metrics, identifying opportunities for process optimization and performance improvements.
• Liaise with governmental agencies, contractors, local communities, and key stakeholders to ensure alignment and operational continuity.
• Provide strategic updates and recommendations to executive leadership on project progress and critical decisions.
• Proactively assess and mitigate project risks that could hinder timelines or performance targets.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mining Engineering, Geology, Project Management, or a related discipline.
• At least 7 years of industry experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a senior management or project leadership capacity.
• Proven experience in iron ore operations is essential.
• Strong knowledge of mine planning, production forecasting, and operational management best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building capabilities.
• Proficiency with industry-specific software and project management platforms.
• Willingness to be based on-site in Central Africa, with travel as required.
