Field Programme Coordinator

• Location: Yaoundé, Cameroon
• Duration: Two (2) years, renewable

Department Mission

To ensure the effective delivery of high-quality conservation outcomes at field level, in line with the WWF Cameroon Conservation Strategy, the Organizational Strategic Plan (OSP), and WWF global practice priorities.

Job Purpose

The Field Programme Coordinator (FPC) provides overall leadership, coordination, and quality assurance for WWF Cameroon’s field operations. The role ensures that all conservation programmes are effectively implemented, strategically aligned, and deliver measurable results in accordance with WWF priorities, donor requirements, and national conservation frameworks.

Working in close collaboration with the Conservation Director, the FPC is accountable for programme coherence, performance oversight, and continuous improvement across all landscapes, while also contributing to resource mobilization and partnership development.

Key Responsibilities

1. Field Operations Oversight and Delivery

• Provide overall operational supervision of WWF field programmes through regular field visits and performance reviews.
• Guide Programme Managers to ensure effective and timely implementation of conservation activities.
• Track progress, identify operational challenges, and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Foster a strong performance-oriented and results-based management culture across field teams.

2. Programme Coordination and Strategic Alignment

• Ensure field activities are fully aligned with WWF Cameroon’s OSP, Roadmap 2030, and national conservation priorities.
• Support the development, refinement, and strategic positioning of landscape strategies and concept notes.
• Contribute to the periodic review and implementation of WWF Cameroon’s Strategic Plan.

3. Resource Mobilization and Partnership Development

• Support field teams in identifying funding opportunities and developing high-quality concept notes and proposals.
• Collaborate with the Conservation Director in donor engagement and partnership development.
• Strengthen coordination among partners to enhance synergy and optimize resource use across programmes.

4. Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL)

• Work closely with the PMEL unit to ensure robust planning, monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems across all field programmes.
• Ensure timely development of annual and operational work plans, including updated Gantt charts and tracking tools.
• Oversee timely and quality submission of periodic reports (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual).
• Promote evidence-based decision-making through high-quality ecological and socio-economic data systems.

5. Financial and Grant Management Oversight

• Ensure field programmes operate within approved budgets in coordination with the Finance team.
• Monitor financial performance and proactively identify risks such as budget overruns or funding gaps.
• Ensure strong alignment between technical delivery and financial execution.

6. Team Leadership and Capacity Development

• Provide direct supervision to Programme Managers, including coaching, performance management, and technical support.
• Strengthen institutional and technical capacities of field teams.
• Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance.

7. Stakeholder Engagement and Representation

• Ensure effective engagement with key stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, NGOs, and private sector partners.
• Support Programme Managers in managing complex partnerships and resolving conflicts where necessary.
• Maintain strong institutional relationships with national authorities and strategic partners.

8. Governance and Institutional Frameworks

• Support the implementation, monitoring, and review of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with government institutions (including MINFOF) and other partners.
• Ensure strict compliance with WWF policies, safeguards, and operational standards across all field programmes.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in conservation, natural resource management, forestry, wildlife ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline.
• Additional qualification in project management, business administration, or organizational management will be considered an asset.
