Position title:  Assistant Manager

Open to: All Interested Candidates (Non-Cameroonians must attach copies of work and/or residency permits to their applications)

Opening date: April 8, 2022

Closing date: April 22, 2022

Work schedule: Full Time, 40 hours/week

Employment type: Indefinite subject to successful completion of probationary period

Duty location: U.S. Embassy Yaounde, Cameroon

Relocation expenses reimbursed: No

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Treasurer, the Assistant Manager ensures operational excellence such as maintaining and developing existing client relationships, issues and manages a variety of loans, maintaining a high-quality loan portfolio to minimize losses for the credit union, ensures compliance with AMECU policies and procedures.

Duties:

    • Registration of new members, processing periodic allotments, and reconciling all posted transactions with the global check.
    • Collection of mails from the Post Office, maintenance of proper filing system and  record keeping of all correspondence.
  • Processing loan applications and ensuring that requests are in conformity with AMECU’s regulations.
  • Educating, counseling, and advising members on all loan categories, and helping them to choose better loan options.
  • Assisting the manager in preparing monthly financial statements and making them available to the Board of Directors (BOD).
  • Assisting the manager in bookkeeping and maintaining complete and accurate records of bank reconciliation
  • Maintaining the stock of office supplies and consumables, and processing requests for replenishment in a timely manner.
  • Serving as backup in the absence of the manager and assuming full responsibility i all financial operations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the BOD.

Requirements:


Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific and
comprehensive information supporting each item. All required information shall be verified.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, Banking and Finance, or Management is required.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years working experience in a microfinance institution or similar structure is required.
Language: A good working knowledge in English and French is required. This will be tested
Skills and Abilities: The incumbent must have good computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and other computer applications: must have excellent mathematics skills, good customer service skills and the ability to multitask and work under pressure. S/he must be tactful and diplomatic when dealing with difficult customers, must be able to communicate both orally and in writing. All these skills and abilities may be tested.
Job Knowledge: Must have good knowledge of the Cameroonian microfinance environment, banking, and tax regulations.
