EVIHDAF is an international research and development organization with its main office in Yaoundé, Cameroon, serving West and Central Africa. We have a diverse team of English and French-speaking researchers who are skilled in combining innovative ideas with practical, locally relevant solutions. Our team is further strengthened by regional and global experts, including those affiliated with universities. We also operate a USAID-funded project office in Niamey, Niger, and a Data Unit in Parakou, Benin.

EVIHDAF provides a wide range of services, including Research, monitoring, evaluation and learning (RMEL); Data analytics and survey research; Research capacity strengthening; and Social and behavior change (SBC) research. Our primary focus areas include Reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (RMNCAH); Maternal, infant and young child nutrition (MIYCN); Malaria and infectious diseases; Humanitarian/vulnerable context; and Support to service delivery.

We are seeking a highly experienced Project Director for an anticipated USAID-funded Regional Implementation Science Research for Improved Sexual and Reproductive Health (ISRSRH) project in West and Central Africa. The Project Director will lead the technical direction of the project, manage consortium partnerships, and ensure the project is implemented successfully at both global and country levels to achieve its objectives. They will be responsible for adhering to contract terms, USAID rules and regulations, and company policies, ensuring the highest quality technical assistance is delivered within budget and risk mitigation strategies are in place. The Project Director will act as the primary representative of the project to USAID and maintain relationships with partners and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Way: Provide strategic and technical direction for the project, overseeing the consortium and ensuring all activities meet high standards, are implemented effectively, and align with both donor and EVIHDAF requirements.
  • Manage Finances: Oversee budgeting, track expenditures, and ensure all costs are allowable, allocable, and reasonable as per USAID rules and regulations.
  • Drive Success: Develop and implement the overall project strategy and workplan to achieve project objectives and promote the application of lessons learned from project outcomes.
  • Build Relationships: Act as the primary point of contact between EVIHDAF, USAID, consortium partners, and other involved parties.
  • Track Progress: Monitor the ISR-SRH project’s performance to ensure goals and objectives are met, and that evidence translation and dissemination strategies are implemented effectively.
  • Share Findings: Ensure proper and timely documentation and dissemination of key findings through a range of communication strategies and media.
  • Collaborate: Foster and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, including beneficiaries and partners.
  • Ensure Compliance: Guarantee adherence to USAID/USG rules and regulations, EVIHDAF policies and procedures, and relevant local laws.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Advanced degree (Masters, PhD, Dr.PH) in health, implementation science, social science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Prior experience as a Project Director or equivalent for a global initiative. At least 8-10 years of experience managing operations, implementation science and research, programs, and administrative tasks for USG or other donor-funded projects of similar complexity and scale. At least ten years of experience implementing programs or conducting research in technical areas such as reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (RMNCAH), social and behavior change (SBC) research, and gender.
  • Communication: Excellent written and spoken communication abilities.
  • Language: Full professional proficiency in both English and French.
