ECOBANK Cameroon S.A. is seeking to hire a Safety & Security Officer willing and able to operate across the national territory.
The role is based in Douala.
I. Job Purpose
The Safety & Security Officer will support the Country Heads for Operations & Technology in managing all security and safety matters within the affiliate. The role ensures that Ecobank’s safety and security programs are implemented in compliance with both the Bank’s internal policies and applicable local regulations.
Key responsibilities include administering security policies and procedures, safeguarding the Bank’s premises and personnel, and maintaining a safe working environment. The Officer will also appoint Safety & Security Representatives at each branch, oversee their implementation of procedures, and ensure continuous monitoring of CCTV systems to enable prompt intervention in case of suspicious activity.
II. Key Responsibilities
Security & Safety Management
- Supervise and coordinate guard services at both branch locations and expatriate residences.
- Ensure timely reporting of security and safety incidents to the designated Officers in Charge, and oversee the implementation of corrective measures.
- Review and approve emergency notification procedures.
- Enforce compliance with fire safety, premises security, and occupational safety standards.
- Maintain the security of Bank facilities in line with institutional standards and operational requirements.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Oversee contractors responsible for maintaining safety and security equipment at expatriate residences.
- Conduct annual inspections and periodic tests of security systems, procedures, and policies to ensure compliance.
- Ensure proper maintenance and monthly testing of hold-up alarms, CCTV systems, and related security devices in coordination with branch personnel.
Training & Awareness
- Provide induction and awareness training to all new employees, covering emergency response (bomb threats, robberies), security protocols, fraud and incident reporting, alarm systems, CCTV usage, and security system testing.
- Inform all staff of their responsibilities in supporting the Bank’s security programs, in accordance with local laws and Ecobank policies.
Risk Assessment & Coordination
- Identify potential security risks and recommend preventive or corrective actions.
- Assist local regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies as needed.
- Maintain a facility security file, ensuring all relevant records are archived for a minimum of five years.
Emergency Preparedness
- Contribute to the development of emergency evacuation plans, including assembly points, escape routes, and emergency contacts.
- Maintain up-to-date descriptions, locations, and diagrams of security equipment for each facility.
III. Job Context
This position carries moderate responsibility, involving verification and validation of calculations on safety and security-related invoices.
The role requires continuous interaction with all Bank staff, serving as their primary resource and adviser on security and safety matters.
The Officer will also maintain regular contact with security and safety service providers, as well as local authorities including the police and fire brigade.

Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ professional experience in safety and security management.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Proactive mindset, with the initiative to act appropriately without explicit instructions.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum requirement).
- Relevant professional certifications in safety and security will be considered an asset.

- Strong security awareness and a commitment to providing effective service to all staff members.
- Sound judgment and the capacity to make decisions using initiative and discretion.
