Ajinomoto Foundation Scholarships in Japan 2025

The Ajinomoto Foundation offers scholarships for international students wishing to pursue a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Japan, in the fields of food, nutrition, and health.

This program aims to train young professionals who can leverage the skills acquired in Japan to contribute to the development of their home countries.

For the 2025 academic year, a maximum of ten (10) scholarships will be awarded to selected candidates.

Application deadline: May 20, 2025

Ajinomoto Scholarship Benefits

Each recipient will receive a monthly allowance of 150,000 yen, for a period of up to two years.

Eligibility Criteria for the Ajinomoto Scholarship

To be eligible for an Ajinomoto Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a citizen of a country located in Asia, Africa, or South America.

  • Be under the age of 30 as of April 1, 2025.

  • Be admitted to or enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program at a Japanese university in the fields of food, nutrition, or health.

  • Have an excellent academic record from previous studies.

  • Demonstrate genuine financial need and strong motivation to pursue studies in Japan.

  • Provide a letter of recommendation from the Dean of the graduate school or a faculty advisor from the current program.

How to Apply for the Ajinomoto Scholarship

Applicants wishing to benefit from the Ajinomoto Scholarship must submit their application package to the President of the Ajinomoto Foundation, through the Japanese university where they are currently enrolled or plan to enroll.

Required Documents

To ensure your application package is complete, please submit the following documents:

  • The Ajinomoto Scholarship application form, duly completed.

  • The form titled “Current Research Status and Future Research Plan” (available for download online).

  • A letter of recommendation from the Dean, a professor, or an academic advisor.

  • Your most recent academic transcripts.
    (If newly admitted, include a proof of admission or a confirmation letter.)

  • An official enrollment letter issued by the Japanese host university.

  • A copy of a valid passport (page showing the photo).
