  • Australia and New Zealand: A one-year Fellowship, providing AUD $15,000, covering stipends, research-related expenses, and travel costs, including international travel.
  • East Asia: A one-year Fellowship, offering US $10,000, encompassing stipends, research-related expenses, and travel costs, including international travel.
  • Africa: A stipend of 12,000 US dollars per annum for three years.
  • Canada and United States of America: Full coverage of tuition fees (registration fees, health insurance, books), along with an annual stipend for two years.
  • Europe: A Fellowship of up to two years covering stipends, healthcare, social benefits, tuition and fees, conference travel, and personal computing equipment. The grant varies by country.
  • Latin America: A two-year Fellowship providing US $15,000 per annum to cover stipends, research-related activities, and travel expenses, including international travel.
  • India: Early-stage PhD students can receive a four-year fellowship with US $50,000 to cover stipends and research-related activities, including travel and international expenses. Late-stage PhD students are eligible for a one-year fellowship with US $10,000 to recognize research contributions and cover similar expenses, also including a Google Research Mentor.
  • Southeast Asia: Students can obtain a three-year fellowship offering US $10,000 per annum (up to graduation) to cover stipends, research-related activities, and travel expenses, including international travel.

All fellows will be provided with a Research Mentor from Google.

The Google Doctoral Fellowship is unrestricted, allowing fellows to allocate funds according to their individual needs and preferences.

Scholarship funds are directly transferred to the fellow’s university, which then disburses the stipend to the student in regular payments. The university is not permitted to deduct any fees from the stipend amount.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Requirements for Applicants To qualify for the Google scholarship program, individuals must be either undergraduate or master’s students, early-stage PhD candidates (embarking on their thesis), or professionals.

  • Enrollment in a doctoral program is not compulsory at the time of application for the Google PhD Fellowship. However, successful applicants will only receive the fellowship stipend upon demonstrating enrollment in a PhD program.
  • Maintain full-time enrollment in the PhD program for the duration of the scholarship.
  • Professionals must be employed or affiliated with a recognized organization.
  • If you are already enrolled in a doctoral program:
  • Maintain full-time enrollment in the doctoral program throughout the scholarship period.
  • Be at an early stage of your PhD studies (first year or initiating research).
