Job Title: Head of Consumer Planning
Level: L4
Reports to: Commercial Director
Context/Scope:
The objective of the role is to play a leading role in keeping marketing activities consumer focused, championing insights and making recommendations that drive growth. The head of Consumer Planning ensures that all consumer information and resulting actions gathered are disseminated effectively.
The focus will be on Market research and analysis (trends, new products, growth, share, profitability, etc.), competitive analysis and size of prize estimates, product/category strategy, facilitation of annual strategic planning process and market analysis (competitors, economic trends, etc.) as well as owning the delivery of the agreed capability plans for staff
Top 3-5 Accountabilities
- Combining analysis, diagnosis, insightful thinking, judgement and clear recommendations to drive growth for existing brands and key Innovations initiatives.
- Championing the generation and implementation of consumer insights.
- Managing Quantitative and Qualitative studies.
- Ensure that learnings from M&E are applied to increase the productivity of our A&P spend
- Own the culture of compliance within CPR by ensuring full compliance to DMC, DRR, GAR and CARM requirements.
- Support the Marketing Director in building capability in the team by driving the training agenda monthly and ensuring capability gaps to the functional and leadership standards are covered
Qualifications and Experience Required
Qualifications
- Appropriate tertiary marketing qualification – degree / diploma
- Suitable Post Graduate qualification is desirable
- Experience in Consumer research would be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years’ experience across the Marketing portfolio, including deep Insights / Consumer Planning functional expertise
- Commercial leadership experience is desirable
- Track record of success in highly demanding organisations
- Track record of delivering measurable commercial results through insight generation and delivery of actionable plans
- Experienced in directing and managing complex planning & research projects, including demonstrated understanding of what can and can’t be achieved via different techniques and approaches
- Ability not just to interpret research data, but to be able to discover and apply consumer understanding & insights to drive brand growth
- Demonstrated ability to effectively inspire, manage and coach a team of functional experts to achieve world class performance
- Creative and flexible conceptual thinker, but capable of critical, objective evaluation – able to blend the art and the science
- Exceptional facilitation skills – able to lead a team through a process to achieve a solution
- Expert influencer; able to gain buy-in for recommendations
- French & English speaking
- Great team player
