Scholarship Amount and Benefits
The scholarship amount varies depending on the level of study chosen:
- Master’s and PhD: Students receive an annual stipend of €22,000, a tuition fee contribution of up to €5,750 per year, and €3,250 per year for research expenses.
- Postdoctoral: Researchers receive a salary of €46,305 for the first year and €47,879 for the second year, along with the employer’s contribution to PRSI (social insurance). Additionally, a budget of €5,000 per year is allocated for eligible research expenses.
Duration of Funding
The funding duration varies according to the program:
- Research Master’s: 12 months.
- Structured Research Master’s: Up to 48 months (this type of program combines teaching and research modules).
- Traditional PhD: Up to 60 months.
- Structured PhD: Up to 72 months (includes teaching modules, seminars, and rigorous academic support for students).
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for these scholarships, candidates must meet the following criteria, regardless of their level of study (Master’s, PhD, Postdoctoral):
- Must not have failed two previous applications for this program.
- No age limit.
- Open to all nationalities.
Enrollment in an Irish institution is not required to apply for these scholarships.
Postdoctoral candidates must also meet the following requirements:
- Have obtained their PhD within the five years prior to May 31, 2025.
- Must not have held a postdoctoral researcher position for more than five years by May 31, 2025.
- Must not be a permanent staff member at a higher education institution or research organization, either in Ireland or abroad.
