The Division You’ll Be Part Of:

The team you’ll be joining is the outward-facing branch of Sun King’s pay-as-you-go (PAYG) direct consumer sales venture. This team is responsible for the recruitment, supervision, and management of the company’s extensive network of independent sales representatives known as “Energy Officers.” These officers actively promote and sell Sun King’s PAYG solar solutions while also providing ongoing customer support within their designated areas.

Under the EasyBuy PAYG solar model, customers have the opportunity to acquire a Sun King solar home system with a modest initial deposit and then pay the remainder in installments spread over time.

About the Position:

As an Area Business Manager, your primary responsibility will be to oversee sales, collections, and distribution operations within your designated area for the direct distribution of Sun King Solar products offered on a Pay-As-You-Basis, known as the “EasyBuy” Business unit, through a network of agents referred to as “Energy Officers.”

Your role as the Area Business Manager entails driving sales growth, ensuring timely and accurate collections, and fostering the sustainable expansion of the Direct Distribution network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and Retention of Energy Officers: Recruit, train, and maintain a team of at least 40 Sun King Energy Officers in the area. Utilize various channels to identify suitable candidates for selling Sun King EasyBuy products, leveraging local influencers like village leaders, educators, religious figures, healthcare providers, farmers, and others. Build awareness and support for Sun King’s mission to provide clean, affordable, and reliable energy solutions within their communities.
  • Training and Development of Energy Officers: Conduct comprehensive training sessions for Energy Officers covering sales techniques, effective collection methods, product knowledge, technical aspects, inventory management, and logistics. Ensure they are supervised professionally, demonstrating the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and customer interaction.
  • Clarifying Roles and Responsibilities: Provide clear guidance and expectations to Energy Officers regarding their daily responsibilities, sales and collection targets, assigned routes, and objectives. This includes equipping Energy Officers with the necessary tools and confidence to demonstrate and sell Sun King products, address basic customer inquiries, and access support from the Area Business Manager as needed.

Daily Field Engagement: Regularly connect with each Energy Officer in your jurisdiction on a weekly basis, whether through face-to-face interactions, facilitating local sales, or conducting phone calls. Address and escalate any challenges encountered by Energy Officers to your Regional Business Manager weekly. Collaborate closely with Energy Officers during their initial five sales to ensure comprehensive understanding of our sales and collection procedures.

Collaboration with Energy Officers: Organize joint field visits with groups of Energy Officers weekly to deliver sales and collection training, fostering greater engagement. Activities may include evening and market activations, community outreach, engagement with Self-Help groups, and sales in retail centers and markets.

Surpass Sales and Collection Objectives: Achieve or surpass monthly sales and collection targets set by your Regional Business Manager on the 2nd of each month. Keep your Regional Business Manager informed with regular updates on sales, Energy Officer recruitment, customer concerns, and issue resolution progress.

Enhance Field Sales Processes: Monitor daily collection performance with Energy Officers and offer tailored training to optimize collection efforts in your area. This includes conducting customer and area assessments, maintaining consistent follow-ups for timely collections, addressing customer concerns to facilitate payments, and resorting to system repossession as a last resort for defaults.

Maintain Market Vigilance: Stay vigilant of competing companies offering similar products in your region and take proactive steps to safeguard and expand our market presence. Keep the management informed and implement strategies to uphold Sun King’s prominent reputation in the solar product sector within your area.

Resolve Customer Concerns: Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing product delivery, usage guidance, payment training, installation, and warranty inquiries promptly. Collaborate closely with Energy Officers to establish efficient processes and clear expectations, ensuring all customer issues are resolved within 24 hours.

Oversee Expenditure on Marketing & Other Areas:

Guarantee the provision of adequate promotional resources and tools (e.g., mobile devices) required by all Energy Officers. Strive for optimal returns on all expenditures associated with marketing, logistics, store upkeep, and smartphone distribution.

Conduct Performance Reviews with Energy Officers:

Host regular roundtable sessions with Energy Officers every week, ensuring the presence of Regional Business Managers (RBM) to address any unresolved customer or officer concerns. Strategize and coordinate these meetings to achieve maximum participation and progress. Periodically acknowledge exceptional performers to sustain high levels of motivation among Energy Officers.

Expand Retail Presence:

Supervise the expansion of the retail network in your jurisdiction with the support of an Area Retail Coordinator recruited under your supervision. Ensure adherence to all retail protocols and foster significant growth in the number of high-performing retailers within your operational area.

Candidate Profile

  1. Qualifications and Experience
    Possess a Business-related degree or equivalent, coupled with a minimum of 3 years of practical experience in B2C Sales.
  2. Technical Skills
    Demonstrate strong proficiency in computer applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  3. Location and Language Skills
    Reside in Cameroon and exhibit familiarity with the specific town or city of the job location (Obala). Fluent in both English and French.
  4. Customer Care and Innovation
    Display extensive expertise in Customer Care and exhibit innovative thinking, with a focus on cost consciousness.
  5. Organizational and Interpersonal Skills
    Excel in Planning, Organizing, and Prioritizing tasks while having a holistic view of operations. Skillfully build relationships both internally and externally.

    Possess strong listening skills, adept at coaching others, and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
