The Team you would be part of:

The sales team responsible for direct consumer engagement with Sun King’s pay-as-you-go (PAYG) solar products is known as the EasyBuy Direct Sales team. This team oversees the recruitment and management of a large network of sales agents, known as “Energy Officers,” who promote and sell Sun King’s PAYG solar solutions and provide ongoing customer service within their designated areas. Using the EasyBuy PAYG model, customers can acquire a Sun King solar home solution by initiating a modest initial payment and settling the remainder through subsequent installments over time.

About the Position:

The Area Business Manager will lead sales, financial transactions, and distribution activities within their designated area for the direct distribution of Sun King Solar products offered on a Pay-As-You-Basis (also known as the “EasyBuy” Business unit) through a network of agents referred to as “Energy Officers.” The Area Business Manager is primarily responsible for driving sales, ensuring prompt and accurate collections, and fostering sustainable growth throughout the Direct Distribution segment.

Recruitment and Retention of Energy Officers

  1. Recruit and maintain a team of at least 40 Sun King Energy Officers within the designated area. Utilize various channels to identify suitable candidates for selling Sun King EasyBuy products, leveraging local influencers such as village leaders, educators, religious figures, healthcare providers, farmers, and others as applicable. Cultivate a positive reputation for Sun King’s mission to deliver clean, affordable, and dependable energy solutions in their communities.

Training and Development of Energy Officers

  1. Conduct comprehensive training sessions for Energy Officers covering multiple facets of the business, including sales techniques, collections procedures, product knowledge, technical aspects, inventory management, and logistics. Ensure rigorous supervision of Energy Officers, demonstrating the utmost professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in customer interactions.

Clarifying Roles and Responsibilities for Energy Officers

  1. Provide clear guidance to Energy Officers regarding their daily responsibilities, sales and collections targets, assigned routes, and objectives. Ensure that Energy Officers are equipped with designated sales areas, proficient product demonstration skills, confidence to address basic customer inquiries on-site, and consistent access to support from the Area Business Manager.

Regular Field Engagement

  1. Maintain weekly contact with each Energy Officer through in-person meetings, customer interactions within the area, or remote communication. Address any challenges encountered by Energy Officers promptly and escalate unresolved issues to the Regional Business Manager on a weekly basis. Facilitate joint sales activities with Energy Officers for their initial five sales to ensure comprehension of core sales and collection processes.

Collaborative Fieldwork with Energy Officers

  1. Conduct collaborative field visits with groups of Energy Officers on a weekly basis to deliver sales and collection training and boost engagement. Activities include evening and market activations, community visits, engagement with self-help groups, retail center visits, and participation in local events to drive group sales and enhance community outreach.

Achieve Sales and Collections Targets

  1. Meet or surpass monthly sales and collection objectives set by your Regional Business Manager on the 2nd of each month. Provide regular updates on sales performance, Energy Officer recruitment, customer concerns, and conflict resolution, aligning with the expectations of your Regional Business Manager.

Enhance Field Sales Strategies

  1. Monitor daily collection progress with Energy Officers and deliver comprehensive training to optimize collection efforts in your designated areas. This involves profiling customers and areas, ensuring consistent and timely follow-ups for collections, resolving customer issues to facilitate prompt payments, and, as a last resort, repossessing systems from defaulting customers.

Maintain Market Vigilance

  1. Stay vigilant of competitors offering similar products within your territory and implement proactive measures to safeguard and expand our market share. Proactively inform management of potential threats and take strategic actions to uphold Sun King’s leadership as a premier solar product brand in your region.

Deliver Exceptional Customer Service

  1. Provide exemplary customer service related to product delivery, usage training, payment facilitation, installation, and after-sales warranty support. Collaborate closely with Energy Officers to establish efficient processes ensuring swift resolution of all customer issues within 24 hours.

Optimize Marketing and Operational Expenses

  1. Equip Energy Officers with necessary marketing materials and tools like smartphones. Ensure prudent spending across marketing initiatives, supply chain activities, store maintenance, and smartphone provisions to maximize return on investment.

Conduct Productive Meetings with Energy Officers

  1. Facilitate weekly roundtable discussions with Energy Officers, ensuring the presence of the RBM to address any outstanding customer or Energy Officer matters. Strategize, coordinate, and lead meetings to maximize attendance and progress. Recognize top performers regularly to sustain high motivation levels among Energy Officers.

Expand Retail Presence

  1. Oversee the expansion of the retail network in your area with support from an appointed Area Retail Coordinator. Ensure adherence to retail protocols and processes, fostering significant growth in the network of high-performing retailers within your operational jurisdiction.

Qualifications for Successful Candidates

  1. Hold a degree in a Business-related field or equivalent, coupled with a minimum of 3 years of practical experience in B2C Sales.
  2. Possess advanced computer skills, particularly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  3. Reside in Cameroon, specifically familiar with the city of Yaoundé where the job is located.
  4. Fluent in both English and French languages.
  5. Demonstrate extensive experience in Customer Care.
  6. Exhibit strong innovative thinking, emphasizing cost consciousness and outside-the-box solutions.
  7. Showcase exceptional abilities in Planning, Organizing, Prioritizing, maximizing value, and grasping the broader strategic perspective.
  8. Excel in building and maintaining relationships, adept at managing internal and external stakeholders.
