Project Description
EGPAF Cameroon, in collaboration with the Cameroon Ministry of Public Health (MOH), is conducting a research project titled “Digital Tools to Expand COVID-19 Testing in Exposed Individuals in Cameroon” (DTECT Cameroon). This study, funded by FIND, aims to determine the most effective way to reach individuals who have come into contact with SARS-CoV-2 positive cases and ensure they are tested for the virus. The DTECT study is a cluster-randomized trial comparing two strategies for contact tracing of SARS-CoV-2 infected patients. The study will evaluate whether a digital contact tracing model is more effective than the current approach. The research will assess the impact of using a digital contact tracing module on improving COVID-19 contact tracing and testing. The project aims to provide evidence for a more efficient method of notifying and tracking contacts of SARS-CoV-2 infected patients. If successful, this approach could be scaled up nationally, leading to improved detection rates for all contacts, early management of infected individuals, reduced transmission in the community, and lower overall incidence and mortality from SARS-CoV-2.
