EVIHDAF, a prominent international research and development organization based in Yaoundé, Cameroon, serves the West and Central Africa region. Our team is composed of both English and French-speaking researchers, who merge innovative thinking with rigorous methodologies. We work with regional and global consultants, many of whom are affiliated with universities, to deliver impactful projects. EVIHDAF operates a USAID-funded project office in Niamey, Niger, and a Data Unit satellite office in Parakou, Benin.
We specialize in Research, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (RMEL), Data Analytics and Survey Research, Research Capacity Strengthening, and Social and Behavior Change (SBC) research. Our focus areas include:
- Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH)
- Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN)
- Malaria and Infectious Diseases
- Humanitarian/Vulnerable Contexts
- Support to Service Delivery
We are seeking dynamic and motivated candidates for the position of Data & Survey Research Associate. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in quantitative research, survey design, and evaluation methodologies, with a proven ability to conduct electronic data collection, data management, analysis, and capacity building. This role covers areas such as family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), nutrition, food security, and infectious diseases. It requires adaptability, strong organizational skills, and the ability to travel internationally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Expand EVIHDAF’s survey research and data management capabilities by attracting new projects from diverse donors and partners.
- Lead or oversee quantitative data collection and perform detailed data analysis for ongoing projects.
- Produce scientific publications and present findings at international conferences.
- Contribute to the utilization of research for program improvement and policy-making.
- Collaborate in the development of work plans, ensuring timely implementation and updates as needed.
- Assist in the preparation of research proposals to secure new funding opportunities.
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD in economics, statistics, demography, social sciences, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in survey research, particularly in FP/RH, MNCH, nutrition, and related fields.
- Demonstrated expertise in quantitative research, including survey design, data analysis, and research dissemination.
- Hands-on experience in survey methodology, including roles like Survey Methodologist, Sampling Statistician, Data Manager, or Data Analyst.
- Knowledge of econometric methods and advanced statistical analytics.
- Experience in implementing electronic data collection systems (e.g., Open Data Kit).
- Strong communication skills in English and French.
- Interest or experience in capacity building and training in evaluation research.
- Ability to clearly and concisely explain research rationales, designs, and learning outcomes both verbally and in writing.
- A detail-oriented approach with the ability to work independently and in team environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent scientific writing and presentation skills, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Experience in proposal development related to survey research.
- Prior work experience in West and Central Africa.
- Familiarity with US-funded projects and experience coordinating with U.S. government agencies and other technical organizations.
