EVIHDAF is an international research and development organization, headquartered in Yaoundé, Cameroon, serving the West and Central Africa region. Our multidisciplinary team of English and French-speaking researchers combines innovative thinking with rigorous methodologies, enabling us to operate on both a global scale and a local level. Complementing our in-house team are regional and global consultants, some affiliated with universities. Our offices include a USAID-funded project office in Niamey, Niger, and a Data Unit satellite office in Parakou, Benin.
EVIHDAF specializes in Research, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (RMEL), Data Analytics and Survey Research, Research Capacity Strengthening, and Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Research. Our key focus areas are:
- Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH)
- Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN)
- Malaria and Infectious Diseases
- Humanitarian and Vulnerable Contexts
- Support for Service Delivery
We are currently seeking dynamic and motivated candidates to join us as a Family Planning & Reproductive Health (FP/RH) Research Associate (or Scientist). This role is based in Cameroon, though remote work may be considered. It requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure, including local and international travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support or lead projects in RMNCAH, particularly EVIHDAF’s activities under the Agency for All, a five-year (2022-2027), USAID-funded social and behavior change (SBC) research program.
- Lead publication efforts, including research briefs, working papers, and peer-reviewed articles, while contributing to the enhancement of EVIHDAF’s research utilization capabilities.
- Assist with proposal development to expand EVIHDAF’s project portfolio in RMNCAH and MIYCN.
- Contribute to the creation and execution of work plans, adjusting them as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements by coordinating documentation and filings.
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD in demography, sociology, public health, social sciences, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of research experience in RMNCAH with a proven track record in peer-reviewed publications.
- Strong writing and presentation skills, with experience in presenting at conferences and publishing in scientific journals.
- Proficiency in conducting quantitative and qualitative research, including data analysis, reporting, and dissemination.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in using software such as Microsoft Office and data analysis tools (qualitative or quantitative).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with SBC research, gender and social norms, and community agency.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and research utilization.
- Experience working in West and Central Africa.
- Familiarity with USAID-funded projects.
- Full professional proficiency in English, and at least basic proficiency in French.
