EVIHDAF is a leading international research and development organization based in Yaoundé, Cameroon, with a strong focus on the West and Central Africa region. Our multidisciplinary team of English and French-speaking experts integrates innovative approaches with a global outlook, while maintaining the ability to implement locally. Our work is supported by a network of regional and global consultants, some affiliated with academic institutions. EVIHDAF has an active USAID-funded project office in Niamey, Niger, and a Data Unit satellite office in Parakou, Benin.

We offer a wide range of services in Research, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (RMEL), Data Analytics, Research Capacity Strengthening, and Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Research. Our key focus areas include:

  • Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH)
  • Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN)
  • Malaria and Infectious Diseases
  • Humanitarian/Vulnerable Contexts
  • Support to Service Delivery

Position Overview.

We are seeking a Project Communications Officer who is proactive, organized, and motivated to join our team. This role plays a critical part in executing EVIHDAF’s project-related communication strategies and reports directly to the Communications and Knowledge Management Officer. The position is based in Yaoundé, Cameroon, and requires strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Communications Management: Support the execution of communication strategies for various projects.
  • Content Development: Assist in creating and managing content for platforms like the website and social media.
  • Production of Communication Materials: Help in the design and production of materials such as banners, posters, and printed documents.
  • Documentation and Editing: Write, edit, and format project-related documents and communication tools as required.
  • Knowledge Management: Facilitate the sharing of knowledge within and across teams.
  • Event Support: Assist in organizing training sessions, workshops, and other events.
  • Best Practices: Stay updated on new trends in communications and incorporate best practices from other projects when applicable.
  • Additional Duties: Take on other relevant tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in communications or translation, ideally in global health sectors within low- and middle-income countries.
  • Strong familiarity with global health, including family planning, reproductive health, nutrition, and infectious diseases in resource-constrained settings.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in French, and good proficiency in English.
  • Proven ability to create engaging narratives and materials for different audiences.
  • Competence in website content management systems (familiarity with WordPress is a plus) and social media management.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, DeepL Translate, and Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign).
  • Strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to influence, motivate, and collaborate effectively with others.
