About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Officer to join our team in ensuring the efficient management of financial and administrative tasks for our projects. Collaborating with staff and volunteers, you will oversee financial operations, maintain compliance, and provide critical support for project implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Develop and maintain robust financial systems to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Oversee accounting and financial operations, including the preparation and documentation of financial reports.
  • Process all payment requests related to project activities, procurement, and staff travel.
  • Monitor and manage project budget lines, ensuring alignment with financial plans and organizational policies.
  • Support monthly financial reporting to the World Food Programme (WFP).
  • Review and validate finance requests submitted by field staff to ensure consistency with the planned budget.

Compliance and Accuracy:

  • Ensure the timely payment of program participant transportation fees.
  • Prepare and organize all documentation for monthly financial closings, including scanning and cash exchange records.
  • Verify the accuracy of data for financial transactions and ensure they are properly recorded in QuickBooks.
  • Strengthen internal controls and contribute to the improvement of accounting systems.
  • Conduct reviews of travel requests and liquidations to ensure compliance with organizational policies.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Collect, review, and archive financial documents, including payment records, invoices, and procurement documents.
  • Manage petty cash purchases and ensure compliance with organizational guidelines.
  • Double-check supporting documents for all payments before submission and filing.
  • Prepare detailed monthly financial and budget reports, as well as end-of-project financial summaries.
  • Contribute to budget planning for project activities and financial analysis, including the review of pro-forma documents.

Audit Support:

  • Assist in preparing for internal controls and external audits.
  • Ensure timely payment of invoices within required deadlines.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in financial management, preferably within an NGO or project-based setting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and strong knowledge of financial systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Administrative Duties – Finance and Administration Officer at Good Neighbors International (GNI), Cameroon

Position Overview:

In this role, the Finance and Administration Officer will be responsible for a variety of administrative and HR functions, ensuring smooth operations within the project. This includes managing staff documentation, supporting procurement processes, and assisting with the preparation of key project-related documents and reports.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources and Leave Management:

  • Maintain comprehensive HR records for all project staff, ensuring all personnel files are complete and up to date.
  • Manage leave requests for project staff through the Docs Wave platform, ensuring leave balances are monitored and the leave tracker is regularly updated.
  • Archive leave-related documents as per organizational standards.

Administrative Support:

  • Implement and adhere to Good Neighbors’ internal administrative procedures and donor requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure weekly filing of administrative and financial documents, including official correspondence, accounting records, and payment requests, in accordance with Good Neighbors Cameroon’s filing system.
  • Assist in preparing relevant documents for meetings, workshops, seminars, and conferences, and finalize related reports in a timely manner.

Procurement and Documentation Management:

  • Manage administrative actions related to the procurement of goods and services, including preparing restricted quotations, purchase orders, consultancy contracts, and payment requests.
  • Monitor and follow up on procurement processes to ensure timely and accurate execution.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive filing system for all incoming and outgoing courier items, both physical and electronic, ensuring secure and organized document archiving.
  • Create, update, and maintain special confidential files, ensuring proper access control and confidentiality.

Travel and Logistics:

  • Coordinate the booking of hotels, taxis, and flights for both staff and guests, ensuring cost-efficiency and timely arrangements.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project equipment management and ensure regular maintenance and proper functioning of all equipment.
  • Participate in the training of in-country project staff on Good Neighbors Cameroon’s regulations for Finance and Administration.
  • Collaborate with team members to foster and maintain positive relationships within the organization.
  • Ensure internal shared documents are consistently updated and accessible to relevant parties.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in document management systems and filing protocols.
  • Experience with procurement, travel logistics, and HR management.
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and a collaborative team-oriented approach.

Finance Officer – Good Neighbors International (GNI) Cameroon

Position Overview:

Good Neighbors Cameroon is seeking a Finance Officer to oversee financial and administrative tasks within our projects. The ideal candidate will manage financial systems, HR documentation, procurement, and reporting, contributing to the smooth functioning of the project. Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related fields.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in both written and spoken English and French.
  • Skills:
    1. Excellent interpersonal communication and report writing skills.
    2. Strong attention to detail, proactive approach, and flexibility.
    3. Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    4. Knowledge of accounting software, especially QuickBooks, is a plus.
    5. Strong analytical skills with the ability to summarize data.
    6. High level of integrity in all professional interactions.
    7. Ability to work under pressure and manage heavy workloads with a positive attitude.
    8. Willingness to travel within the country and work in the field.
    9. Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and meet deadlines.
  • Additional Experience: Experience working with international NGOs is an asset.
