Position Overview
We are seeking two qualified psychologists to provide specialized mental health services. The primary focus is to offer psychological support for individuals with moderate to severe mental health conditions across our intervention areas. The selected candidates will also assist in the implementation of psychosocial support (PSS) activities for both children and adults.
Key Responsibilities
- Individual Psychological Support: Deliver personalized psychological services to individuals with mental and emotional disorders.
- Technical Support: Provide technical expertise to protection teams to effectively implement psychosocial support (PSS) programs.
- Case Management: Perform thorough needs assessments for diagnosing psychological conditions and identifying appropriate therapies.
- Individual Assistance Plans: Develop and manage individualized support plans, offering counseling using diverse therapeutic techniques.
- Confidentiality and Data Protection: Ensure strict adherence to protocols on confidentiality, consent, and data protection.
- Group and Individual Counseling: Organize and facilitate group and one-on-one counseling sessions based on identified needs.
- Internal Training: Train protection staff on basic psychosocial counseling techniques as part of the case management process.
- Psychosocial First Aid (PFA): Conduct training sessions for staff and community members on Psychosocial First Aid.
- Community Support: Strengthen community-based psychosocial support and peer support group initiatives.
- Collaboration: Work closely with technical staff, including the Protection Coordinator, to develop and enhance the PSS component of the project.
- Field Support: Provide coaching and guidance to field teams on implementing structured PSS activities.
- Compliance with Protection Principles: Ensure all tasks are performed in line with key protection principles, such as non-discrimination, confidentiality, and do no harm.
- Protection Tools and Training Materials: Assist the Protection Coordinator in developing and updating tools and training materials to meet project demands.
- Donor Reporting: Support the Project Manager in preparing donor reports by providing insights on protection-related issues.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and partners in the project areas.
- Participation in Coordination Meetings: Actively participate in relevant coordination meetings as directed by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Education: A university degree in Psychology.
- Additional Training: Training in humanitarian protection topics, such as community-based protection, survivor-centered case management, PSEA, GBV, and child protection, is highly desirable.
- Professional Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a humanitarian context, preferably within an NGO or INGO.
- At least 1 year of field experience in the North West or South West regions during a crisis situation.
- Previous experience in social work or collaboration with UNHCR projects is an asset.
- Competencies:
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to challenging environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in team management (at least 1 year) is an advantage.
- Demonstrated empathy, respect, and a non-discriminatory attitude.
Technical Skills
- IT Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with web browsers like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox.
- Competence with web-based communication tools such as Skype, Teams, Zoom, and WebEx.
- Understanding of Web 2.0 tools, including cloud storage and webmail platforms.
Languages
- Fluency in formal written and spoken English.
- Proficiency in Pidgin English.
- Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
