Opportunity Overview

As a CPIE & GBV Assistant, you will play a crucial role in executing protection activities within both refugee camps and surrounding communities. Your primary focus will be on addressing gender-based violence (GBV) and ensuring child protection in emergencies. This role aligns with Plan International’s humanitarian response in the Far North region, in accordance with the UNHCR’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan 2022-2026 and child protection guidelines relevant to Cameroon.

In collaboration with the Protection Officer, you will deliver case management services and actively participate in case management meetings held in Minawao refugee camp, IDP sites, and host communities within the Mayo Sava and Mayo-Tsanaga divisions.

Key Responsibilities

As a CPIE & GBV Assistant, you will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including:

  • Child Protection Officers
  • Community Relays
  • Child-Friendly Space Animators
  • PALS Facilitators
  • Members of Community Child Protection Mechanisms
  • Local authorities and other humanitarian workers

Your involvement will ensure the seamless implementation of GBV and child protection activities. Additionally, you will support technical coordination, advocacy efforts with local protection groups, and sub-working groups focusing on child protection and gender-based violence. This collaboration will enhance the effectiveness and quality of the response from Plan International.

Candidate Profile

We seek an individual with a degree in social sciences, law, or a related field. Familiarity with international child protection standards and CPIE principles is highly advantageous. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the protection sector
  • Proficiency in one of the local languages (Fulfulde, Hausa, or another language prevalent in the Far North region)
  • Practical experience in emergency operations and case management related to GBV and child protection
  • Experience working in refugee camps or IDP sites, particularly in conflict-affected areas of Mayo Tsanaga and Mayo Sava
