Europe Afrique Services (EAS), specializing in subcontracting and human resources management, is seeking a Data Privacy Consultant on behalf of a leading telecommunications client. This is a one-year contract position.
Responsibilities:
The Data Privacy Consultant will be responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and adherence to the company’s policies and procedures regarding subscriber data privacy, protection, and access. This role will ensure compliance with all relevant laws, telecommunications regulations, and the company’s established information privacy practices.
The Data Privacy Consultant will collaborate with a cross-functional team to accomplish the following key deliverables:
- Policy Development and Compliance: Provide expert guidance on the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s information privacy policies and procedures. Collaborate with the team to identify and address any non-compliance with new data protection regulations.
- Data Privacy Policy Rollout: Define and execute a comprehensive plan to adapt and implement the company’s global data privacy policy within the local context.
- Localization of Data Privacy Framework: Tailor the company’s data privacy procedures and risk management framework to align with the specific requirements of Cameroon’s data protection laws.
- Initial DPO Support: Offer initial support in establishing a robust data protection framework, including the creation of a data protection register, incident and breach registers, and privacy impact assessments.
- Privacy Training and Awareness: Deliver initial and ongoing privacy training and orientation to all employees, contractors, and relevant third parties. Facilitate activities to foster a strong privacy culture within the organization.
- Privacy Risk Assessments and Compliance Monitoring: Conduct regular privacy risk assessments and ongoing compliance monitoring in coordination with operational assessment teams.
- Privacy Forms and Notices: Collaborate with relevant teams to develop and maintain accurate privacy and confidentiality consent forms, authorization forms, and information notices that reflect current organizational practices and legal requirements.
- Trading Partner and Business Associate Agreements: Participate in the development and compliance monitoring of all agreements with trading partners and business associates to ensure comprehensive privacy protection.
- Complaint Management: Establish and manage a process for receiving, documenting, investigating, and addressing all complaints related to the company’s privacy policies and procedures.
- Information Release Coordination: Collaborate with all departments involved in releasing protected or subscriber information to ensure full compliance with the company’s policies, procedures, and legal obligations.
- Information Privacy Expertise: Serve as the company’s dedicated information privacy specialist, providing expert guidance and support to all departments and relevant entities.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
The successful candidate will deliver the following:
- Comprehensive implementation plan for the company’s data privacy framework
- Updated policies and procedures reflecting current best practices and legal requirements
- Recommendations for tools and technology to enhance data privacy management
- A framework for effective stakeholder relationship management
- Training and awareness materials to promote a strong privacy culture

Experience
- CIPP certification and residency in Cameroon are mandatory
- Relevant experience as a Data Policy expert or consultant in data protection and privacy within multinational corporations or a leading consulting firm
- In-depth understanding of global data protection issues, legal frameworks, and the new data protection and privacy law in Cameroon
- A passion for tackling challenges and driving results
Education
- A degree in law, information technology, or a related field
Languages and Other
- Professional English proficiency
- Fluent French proficiency
