Maersk is currently seeking a Fleet Supervisor for their operations in Cameroon.

Opportunity

The Fleet Supervisor role in Cameroon is crucial for the expansion and profitability of our Inland trucking service. As the incumbent, you will be responsible for overseeing an existing fleet of trucks and trailers, with the potential for growth. Your main focus will be on intra/inter-city and hinterland deliveries. Your primary objective is to drive profitability and contribute to the Profit and Loss (P&L) statement by ensuring optimal productivity, increasing revenue, reducing costs, and implementing innovative solutions for fleet management. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage relationships with new and existing customers, including third-party shipping lines.
  • Monitor and optimize truck performance in terms of cost and utilization.
  • Continuously improve and optimize trucking assets to enhance efficiency.
  • Follow up on the established investment plan.
  • Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) standards.
  • Promote compliance and regulatory adherence.
  • Uphold truck operation security and IT standards.
  • Maximize truck productivity, including position tracking and fuel consumption monitoring.
  • Coordinate truck repairs and maintenance with vendors.
  • Monitor lease agreements.
  • Contribute to contract management with vendors.
  • Ensure adherence to governance frameworks.
  • Manage relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Develop truck drivers’ competencies and availability sustainably.
  • Engage with truck drivers to foster a positive working relationship.
  • Be accountable for cost-to-serve, asset utilization, customer satisfaction, and Fleet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Execute the trucking strategy in Cameroon.
  • Provide input on changes to the trucking fleet or services offered.
  • Collaborate on service level agreements with customers.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of the trucking markets in CMR, CHAD, and CAR.
  • Has financial acumen for effective budgeting and financial decision-making.
  • Demonstrates strong skills in creating concise and accurate reports.
  • Has a proven ability to work collaboratively as a team player.
  • Has a track record of effective leadership and team management.
  • Is proficient in stakeholder management and collaboration within a matrix organization.
  • Has a commercial mindset for strategic business planning.
  • Is culturally open and adaptable to diverse work environments.
  • Exhibits excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can establish and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Is proficient in both English and French languages.
