Senior Health, Safety, and Environment Officer – DANGOTE Cement CAMEROON S.A.

• Location: Douala, Littoral Region, Cameroon

Job Summary

The Senior Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of OSHA Safety Programs. This role involves providing comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environment advice to both the Company and contract personnel to ensure the achievement of zero accidents/incidents and full compliance with HSE legislation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a robust HSE Management System.
• Design and execute programs to promote Health and Safety practices among employees in the workplace.
• Develop HSE policies and procedures that align with industry standards and legal requirements.
• Lead accident and incident investigations, analyze root causes, and provide recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
• Develop and manage HSE competency programs such as defensive driving and OSHA training.
• Serve as a liaison with external stakeholders on all HSE-related matters.
• Establish, test, and review an emergency response plan.
• Offer expert consultation to staff at all levels regarding HSE issues.
• Supervise HSE staff to ensure effective program implementation.
• Undertake special assignments and perform other related tasks as needed.

Requirements

Academic/Professional Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences or Occupational Health.
• NEBOSH Diploma (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health).

Work Experience

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in an industrial or HSE-related role.

Skills and Competencies

• In-depth knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Dangote.
• Experience in Performance Management and the ability to monitor and report on HSE performance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex issues.
• Proven ability to manage complex situations with tact and diplomacy.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to develop and manage work plans.
• Bilingual in English and French.
