Role Overview – General Manager Sales, Cameroon
Brussels Airlines is looking for a General Manager Sales to lead and oversee his operations in Cameroon, including commercial teams, security, ground operations, finance, and HR. This role plays a pivotal part in driving business growth, enhancing commercial activities, and expanding the presence of the Lufthansa Group and its Joint Ventures (JVs) in the region.
You will be responsible for defining, coordinating, and executing commercial strategies while fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, airport management, travel agencies, international organizations, and economic leaders in Douala and Yaoundé.
In collaboration with the General Manager for Central Africa, you will lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing team, nurturing their talent and driving a best-in-class mindset.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Account Management
- Define and execute annual sales objectives and KPIs aligned with the budget and growth ambitions of Brussels Airlines, the Lufthansa Group, and JV partners.
- Identify and capitalize on revenue and cost opportunities in collaboration with the GM Central Africa.
- Negotiate and secure commercial contracts with travel agencies, corporate clients, group travelers, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) in Douala and Yaoundé.
2. Sales Performance & Market Strategy
- Monitor and analyze revenue performance across all sales channels.
- Implement corrective strategies to optimize market performance.
- Oversee local execution of Lufthansa Group and JV commercial initiatives.
- Drive sales promotions and customer service strategies based on defined action plans.
3. Market Representation & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the official legal representative of Brussels Airlines in Cameroon.
- Represent the Lufthansa Group in local business, governmental, and industry discussions.
- Ensure seamless internal communication and collaboration with key stakeholders.
4. Leadership & People Management
- Recruit, lead, and inspire teams in Douala and Yaoundé.
- Plan workforce needs and optimize team performance within budget constraints.
- Foster a culture of excellence by developing talent through performance management tools.
5. Process Optimization & Compliance
- Ensure efficient execution of all operational processes related to the role.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflow and efficiency.
6. Regional Scope
- Oversee commercial operations across Douala and Yaoundé to ensure business continuity and growth.
Candidate Profile
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Sales, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of commercial leadership experience.
- Sales Expertise: Strong track record in sales, business development, and strategic negotiations.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in the airline or travel industry is an advantage.
- Management Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire teams in a dynamic environment.
- Additional Knowledge: Familiarity with HR, finance, and legal frameworks in Africa is a plus.
