The Mexican government, through the Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), is offering scholarships for international students to study at the bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate, and postdoctoral levels in Mexico for the 2024 academic year. The program is open to applicants from over 180 countries and includes participation from over 70 esteemed Mexican higher education institutions.
Mexico boasts a high standard of living at a relatively low cost, making it an attractive and affordable study abroad destination. In fact, Mexico City and Monterrey were ranked among the top 100 best student cities in the world and the top 20 most affordable in the QS Best Student Cities 2022 rankings.
Furthermore, thirteen Mexican universities are recognized in the QS World University Rankings, with three of them placing within the top 500. The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) is the highest-ranked Mexican institution, holding the 104th position globally.
Rigorous and Fair Selection Criteria for scholarships
Applications will be evaluated through a rigorous and impartial process, based on academic excellence and the relevance of research projects to Mexico’s social and technological development. Complete applications must be submitted before the deadline via the Academic Cooperation Management System (SIGCA).
Full Financial Support for scholarships
Awardees will benefit from a generous monthly stipend, free tuition, full medical coverage, as well as travel and visa expenses.
Duration Adapted to Each Level of Study for the scholarship program
The duration of scholarships varies depending on the level of study: up to 24 months for bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and up to 36 months for doctorates. Specific durations are also provided for postdoctoral research and medical specializations.
