CARE Cameroon Opens Academic Internship Opportunities for Students in Maroua

CARE has been operating in Cameroon since 1978, delivering programs focused on three strategic priorities: gender equality, health, and climate and economic justice. Through both humanitarian response and long-term development initiatives, the organization works to empower women and young people, strengthen community systems, support decentralization efforts, and improve access to quality sexual and reproductive health services.

As part of the Maroua Green Inclusive and Sustainable City (MVVID) project, implemented in the Far North Region with financial support from the European Union Delegation, CARE Cameroon is offering academic internship opportunities for university students.

Internship Objectives

Working under the direct supervision of the Technical Supervisor for Green and Circular Entrepreneurship (STEVC), selected interns will follow a structured learning program designed to combine academic knowledge with practical field experience.

During the internship, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand the implementation and management of development projects funded by international donors.
  • Learn environmental field data collection using KoboCollect.
  • Develop practical skills in monitoring and evaluating reforestation activities and managing green spaces.
  • Gain hands-on experience in community mobilization and environmental awareness campaigns.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, monitoring, and project reporting.
  • Apply classroom knowledge in a professional development setting.

Eligibility Requirements

Academic Background

Applicants must be currently enrolled in one of the following university levels:

  • Bachelor Year 1
  • Bachelor Year 2
  • Master Year 1

Candidates should be pursuing studies in one of the following fields:

  • Environmental Science
  • Sustainable Development
  • Agronomy
  • Forestry
  • Geography
  • Natural Resource Management
  • Rural Engineering
  • Land Use Planning
  • Statistics
  • Local Development
  • Any other closely related discipline

Required Skills and Qualities

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • A strong interest in environmental and sustainability issues.
  • Motivation to learn and acquire new professional skills.
  • Good teamwork and collaboration abilities.
