Background
Since 2020, Cameroon has experienced a disinformation crisis that affects the demand for health services in general and immunization. This situation has focused attention on the lack of information among the population on health activities as immunization campaigns. This situation has allowed a rapid spread of misinformation and other defiance towards vaccination. The emergence of this form of threat can lead to negative health practices and can even result in death.
Many actions are implemented by the Government, WHO and other partners. A communication system has been put in place to ensure that all segments of the population receive the right information.
Deliverables
Under the coordination of the WHO representative and the supervision of the FP immunization, the RCCE will be responsible for:
- Prepare community dialogues within organized groups (associations of the elderly, women, youth) on vaccination
- Support the EPI in the designing of audios, spots & awareness videos to be broadcast on community radios, TV, and social networks.
- Follow the production of audios, spots, videos, and other visuals of awareness
- Ensure media monitoring in radios and televisions, especially those that have agreements with the WHO.
- Support the EPI implementation of the communication plan, including digital.
- Monitor community outreach activities by CHWs among priority targets (elderly, individuals with chronic diseases, health workers, etc.)
- Monitor demand generation KPI
- Organize sensitization campaign in social medias with digital mobilisers.
- Monitor the activities of community managers deploy by WHO
- Contribute to the development of regular updates on RCCE activities such as for situation reports, web stories and related documents such as presentations and other communications and information products
- Prepare monthly reports on the implementation of the project’s demand generation activities
- Execute any other activities assigned by the Team Lead
Educational background
Essential: First university degree in journalism, public relations, communication; expertise in socio-anthropology would be an asset.
Desirable: Certification in health
Professional Experience and Knowledge

- Experience in the organization and implementation of communication campaigns
- Good knowledge of the organization and implementation of communication campaigns
- Knowledge of the organization and implementation of communication campaigns
- Knowledge and skills in developing risk communications materials and approaches, particularly in developing country settings.
- Experience with communications for crisis management is an asset.
- Good knowledge of the Cameroon health system, the Expanded Program on Immunization and the communication system
- At least 2 years of professional experience in the field of communication and media
- Advanced organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, Power point, etc.)
